Track is "unsecure" on 3 different copies of CD and general question re best settings

I've been using CD Ripper for over a year now. Now and then I experience a track that is "unsecure," generally with a used CD. I buy (and already own) a lot of used CDs, and this happens maybe 1 out of 30 or 40 CDs, and I assume that is just part of life ripping CDs. But a few weeks ago, when this happened, I really wanted a secure rip of all tracks so I bought copy #2 of the CD (used). The same track was unsecure on CD @2, so I bought a new CD (copy #3), and the same track is unsecure on that CD, too. The track plays OK on my CD player, but I think I'm hearing a few transients on the track in question that sound slightly distorted, and I don't hear that distortion on the other tracks. Maybe this points to a manufacturing defect that affected all 3 CDs, but I thought I'd post to see what others think?

A more general question, is what settings other recommend that strike the best balance of identifying tracks that lack integrity, but not slowing down the rip process too much?

Thanks in advance for any and all comments/suggestions.

Were the other tracks verified by accuraterip?

Most efficient is ULTRASECURE. if there is an ACCURATERIP match then it does a single fast pass and moves on. If no match then moves into multiple passes/matches.

Get a different CD drive, totally different manufacturer.

Thank you, Spoon, will do. Any recommendations for brand/model? My current dirve is an OWC Mercury Pro, about a year old, seems to work well. I have some Apple drives around (I use a Mac), but I don't have as much confidence in them for this purpose.

Here is a summary of my current CD Ripper settings, in case this sheds any light on the problem I've run into.
                  - Ripping Method: Secure (Recover Errors)
                  - Ultra Secure NOT enabled
                  - Individual Bad Frames: Maximum re-reads 34, Interpolate Unrecoverable Frames ACTIVATED
                  - Drive Read Cashe 1024KB; C2 Error Pointers NOT selected; 8kb Transfers NOT selected
                  - Secure rip Abort; after 5 unrecoverable frames; have to re-rip after 100 frames, after ripping a track for 5 minutes
-Mark Trask as Error if: (disabled)
                  - Cancel Disc Ripping After any Insecure Track if OFF
                  - Accuraterip configured for drive; all 3 boxes checked
                  - CD Drive settings:, after rip - do nothing; ripping speed = maximum, spin-up time = (non); spind-down after = (default); 1st 2 boxes not checked, last 2 boxes checked

Your settings look good. Any available drive, stay away from Sony.

A drive from the top manufacturers here:

Top Drives AccurateRip collects data from all drives, normally this is only used to verify a disc is accurate, but can be reversed to calculate which drives are the most accurate (as measured by lowest % inaccurate tracks), on the basis that people who have a drive would have the same number of damaged disks as everyone else,
