CD Ripper missing first track of a CD

I've been using CD Ripper on and off for about 20 years and stumbled across some new today.

I tried ripping a brand new CD just unwrapped and the first track is missing in CD Ripper. It only displays tracks 2 through 21. I verified that track 2 is the correct track 2 and track 21 is the correct track 21. Track 1 is completely missing.

I can open the CD in VLC (Computer > Optical drive > Right-click > Play with VLC) and see and play track 1 and the rest of the album.

After ripping this CD (sans track 1) I then ripped 2 other new CDs without issue. All CDs are from the same band, and one of them was part of a multi-album pack that included the CD missing track 1.

    Windows 11 25H2
dBpoweramp Release 2026-01-31, installed to C: drive, and I rip to D:
    DIY desktop PC w/ 9800x3D, 32GM RAM
TSST SE-208GB USB CD/DVD drive that I've had for probably 7 years without issue.

        Hi,
        1. I have installed CDripper several months ago on my WIN10 pro Toshiba laptop with intern CD-drive and all works fine. In the last 2 weeks I ripped ca. 300 CDs and since a few days it ripps nothing more, every file is quit with an error on several CDs. The same by using another extern CD-drive.
        2. updating updates 2026 is not possible

That means something (likely security software) is blocking dBpoweramp, or your %tmp% drive is full.

Check your all your drives have free space, atleast 10GB on the system drive.

If still no go as a test restart in safemode, no security software is running, try ripping a CD:
