I got a new Windows 11 desktop and set up CD Ripper for secure and accurate rips by determining the drive offset and copying all my settings from the old PC. FWIW, the drives are the same make and model, HL-DT-DT DVDR+/-RW GU90N, which is one of the drives marked [Purged] in the AccurateRip drive database. Anyway, I got this new CD and went to rip it on the new machine, made two attempts, both times two of thirteen tracks were flagged as insecure although they passed the AR test. Log shows for rip #1:
Track 11: Ripped LBA 215096 to 235273 (4:29) in 1:02. Filename: C:\Users\Ferrara\Desktop\Dean & Britta\13 Most Beautiful... Songs For Andy Warhol's Screen Tests\1-11 Knives From Bavaria (Spoonful Of Fun).aif

So I took the disc and tried ripping it in the old computer, same make and model CD drive, same settings on CD ripper, and it succeeded the first try, ripped all 13 tracks with no reported errors.
What might this tell me about my new drive in particular, or about drives in general, i.e. why will a CD rip without errors on one drive and fail on a different drive, with all the same secure settings?
And what would one of you experienced rippers do in this situation? Change the settings? Just use the old drive since it is more forgiving of disc errors? Any other troubleshooting or diagnostics?
I've been using dBpoweramp CD Ripper for 8 years to rip secure and accurate files from CDs, but there is still a lot I don't know or understand. Thanks for any light you can shed on my concerns.
EDIT: it does seem odd to me that the old drive which has had a lot of wear and tear ripping thousands of CDs for the past 8 years gives me secure rip results without errors whereas the same model drive but brand new shows errors... though maybe this means the errors are there but the old drive fails to notice them. Yes, I am OCD about these matters, but anyway... and FWIW both these drives passed the CD ripper setup test showing they support C2 error pointers, so I leave that box checked.
