"No write access to:" error at startup (macOS)

I had just finished setting up a NAS and was looking forward to turning my back on iTunes for ripping my CDs and using this software I hear so much about. The NAS was built using an old mac mini I have, and the most recent version of macOS it'll run is High Sierra, which the current dBpoweramp doesn't support...fair enough, I suppose.

Next, I installed it on my laptop, which is running Sonoma, and decide to give it a try there, even though it's less than ideal for ripping my entire CD collection from this machine as it'll all have to be moved to the NAS. At launch, the app throws a "No write access to: /Users/xxxxxxxx/Library/dBpoweramp/" error and exits. Although not a practice I'm in the habit of, I went into the security settings and enabled Full Disc Access for the app. Still no dice. I'm not sure why an app for which I've enabled that would still squawk about not having file access...

Not off to a great start with this software – I searched this forum and Google for that error and don't find anyone else reporting it. Any ideas here?

FWIW, if it helps anyone who might encounter this in the future, I was able to fix it. Curiously, when I installed CD Ripper and Music Converter the usual way by mounting the .dmg and dragging the apps into the Applications folder, the folder for CD Ripper was created with root as the owner (curiously, Music Converter was correctly assigned to my username on the machine). I simply went into finder and chown'd as needed so that I was owner...

I ran into the same issue (running Sequoia 15.4.1, dBRefMusic-2025-04-17), but in my case the app had my user account as the owner. I fixed things by adding the dBpoweramp directory (which was missing) to the path in the error message and that resolved it.

Hi Monthy, I am getting no write access to:/users/username/Library/Accuraterip/

I didn't understand your fix. Are you able to explain step by step?

        Many thanks

Sure thing. These were my steps on MacOS, but I assume a similar set of steps in Windows.

          1. Open up the Terminal app
          2. cd /Users/xxxxxxx/Library (where xxxxxxx is your account's username)
          3. mkdir dBpoweramp (or in your case: mkdir AccurateRip)

In my Library, the AccurateRip directory is captial A and capital R. If the above steps still result in that same error for you, try renaming the directory to the exact case that the error message shows (as your post shows a lower-case r). I used Terminal, but you could just as easily do this in Finder/Explorer by creating a new directory/folder in that same path.
