Thank you, Spoon. And thanks for helping me get this far.

What I really need - PLEASE (!) - is a comprehensive overview of which tags and their values need to be set where.

    I can see two places:
    1. the DSP effect ID Tag Processing vertical menu set to map the tag
    2. CD Ripper Options > Meta Data & ID Tag > ID Tags > Write ID Tags
where tags seem to be set.

But I remain confused about what each does. Why and how to avoid duplicating settings.

Is there a URL with good clear docs on how to get the most out of the wonderful dBpoweramp (macOS version) for tagging my files, please?

As you can see Catalog is mapped to CATALOGNUMBER as per your earlier post.

    Thanks, Spoon.

On the Mac version, that's dBpoweramp > Advanced Settings > (the second tab) Codecs, isn't it:

Name:	FLAC encoding.png
Views:	159
Size:	148.2 KB
ID:	328284
    ?

If so, how and where do I edit these?

I shall get an answer on Roon's 'FileType' tag…

dBpoweramp Control Centre >> Codec List / Options configure the tag writing for flac.

We do not know which tags roon reads from so cannot advise,

    Thanks.

As far as I can see (someone) please correct me if I’m wrong, there are two places in all of dBpoweramp’s settings where I can make changes.

    Yes?

    Am I correct?

    Are there more, others, please?

    Those two places are:
    1. the DSP effect ID Tag Processing vertical menu set to map the tag
    2. CD Ripper Options > Meta Data & ID Tag > ID Tags > Write ID Tags
How exactly do I customize and set these in the latest version so that I can get the following fields to show up in Yate ready to import into Roon:
    • Catalog number (now that the latest version includes it by default; thank you!), and
    • Conductor
    • Label
    • File Type
Thanks in advance for anyone's help here!

Should I (also) remove any of my previous settings, please - as described earlier in this thread?

Leave on default, it will be automatically updated to the best option.

Appreciating how busy you will be - and with thanks for the new version - please outline the new (after release 2024-09-30) best practice for adding Catalogue Numbers.

I don't want to duplicate settings.

    Thanks in advance…

Thanks. For the moment, though, which is the better of these two options?

The next release defaults to cataglougnumber so should keep everyone happy.

Referring to the two posts explaining two (different) ways to ensure that catalogue numbers are ripped and saved (use specifically ‘CATALOGNUMBER’):
    1. CD Ripper Options > Meta Data & ID Tag > ID Tags > Write ID Tags, which I have got working with 100% success, and
    2. using the DSP effect ID Tag Processing set to map the tag,
what are the differences, please; and is one preferable to the other?

Thanks in advance for anyone’s answer :-)

The only current standard tags for flac are these:

Not even album artist...anyhow on this page:

has 3 links for proposed extensions, the first link has:

LABELNO record labels often put the catalog number of the source media somewhere on the packaging. use this tag to record it.

The next link which is dead, but in archive.org has:

These fields should be the same for every track in an album. Vorbis provides ALBUM and ORGANIZATION. ORGANIZATION is a bit ambiguous, though, since different companies are often involved in production and publishing, so PUBLISHER was added. To provide a unique identifier for an album in the spirit of ISRC for tracks, PRODUCTNUMBER and CATALOGNUMBER were added.

and the last which is Vorbis official:

    https://wiki.xiph.org/Field_names
    1. PRODUCTNUMBER – recommended because two different field names have been proposed
It is a right mess, 3 different tags for the same thing.

Not one of those pages has Album Artist.

It is not an error, the official list of Flac ID Tags does not have catalog number, however we will adopt to any most used.

    Got it. Thank you!

What’s the advantage of/difference between mapping CATALOGNUMBER where you kindly suggest over adding it in:

CD Ripper Options > Meta Data & ID Tag > ID Tags > Write ID Tags

    please?
