windows crashes cannot rip or play disk

I have been using bBpoweramp on my old computer for quite a while with no problems.

I have set up a new machine -
I am running Windows 7 pro 64 bits. I have bought a new copy of bBpoweramp and istalled it on the new machine.

The drive I am using is a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-206D.

I am running Windows 7 pro 64 bits.

The ripper loaded the disk and ran its calibration routine but crashes when I try to play or rip the disk. I am noy dead in the water yet but the old machine id promiced to my son so I will be eventually ripperless unless I can solve the problem with my new computer.

Please confirm, exactly what crashes, Windows or CDRipper?

Can you play the CD in another windows application, e.g. Windows Media Player, without crashing?

Is the new machine bought off the shelf or did you build it?

Re: windows crashes cannot rip or play disk

The machine was bought all setup with windows 7 installed. All I did was install my cdrom drive instead of the cheap one supplied with the computer. It is the ripper that crashes. I have about an hour ago downloaded Foobar2000 and installed it. I have ripped a cd with it, the same one I tried to rip with the dBaudioamp ripper, and I was successful I tried dBpoweramp again, same results the program crashed. I find this very strange, as I said before I have been using the dBpoweramp ripper for a couple of years now with no problems of any kind on my old computer (built that one myself), running windows 7 home edition the drive in use for most of that time was a plexwriter 48/24/48a I also just lately started to use the pioneer in that machine had no problems using it to play music, can't remember if I used to rip or not .

So, to confirm, you have a new Windows 7 64-bit PC and have replaced the supplied optical drive with the Pioneer BD-RW BDR-206D drive. Foobar2000 is able to rip the CD whereas dBpoweramp CDRipper crashes?

Which version of dBpoweramp, which Ripping Method, Burst, Secure or Defective by Design?

Run Configure dBpoweramp (should be a shortcut on the desktop).

In CDRipper have you configured the Pioneer BD-RW BDR-206D drive and which Ripping Method have you set in CDRipper options, Burst, Secure or Defective by Design?

I tried it with both burst and secure. I have never used defective by design never needed it so I didn't try it.

I think you'll need Spoon to help here as there seems to be a compatibility issue with CDRipper and the Pioneer BD-RW BDR-206D drive.

One last thing I can suggest is to check you have the latest firmware for the Pioneer BD-RW BDR-206D drive.

                      Sorry, I can't help further.

Downloaded the firmware updater - It says I have the latest version 1.56, no update was performed.
