Re: Different album art for different encoders....

I'll give this a go tomorrow when I get home and will report back. Thanks again for sticking with me on it..... Hopefully we can get it sorted. By the sounds of things having different album art for different encoders should be supported, so it's just a case of setting up correctly, right?

I'm also curious to know whether our aim is for DBPA to:

    1. Downscale/downsize artwork according to settings
    2. Use two totally different pieces of artwork from the web.

    Cheers

        Hi

Finally got home to test this. The result was no artwork in either the FLAC or mp3 folder....

Happy to keep testing, just let me now what to try next.

        Cheers

Set CD Ripper to embed art, in the ID Tag Processing DSP Effect, set to export folder.jpg and remove the embedded.

            How/where do I do that?

Plus, should i keep "main options not to write any folder.jpg or cover.jpg" as before?

              Hi Spoon,

I'm so sorry.... Can we back track a couple of posts? I tried your previous suggestion again and it got different results. Not sure what I did wrong first time around.

So to clarify, when I set the main options not to write any folder.jpg or cover.jpg (as requested), and leave the ID Tag Processing DSP in the mp3 Encoder as before:

              Export to: cover.jpg
              Import from: none
              Max. Pixel Size: 300x300
              Max. File Size: 75kb
              Force embedded to JPEG: Unchecked.

I get NO album art in the FLAC folder, and album art in the mp3 folder scaled down to 300x300 and at a size of 68kb.

Sounds more hopeful! So what next?

Apologies again for the mess up...

UPDATE: IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE.....

Because I had been experimenting with the other suggestions, these results were with the Ripper set to embed art.

I tried again with the Ripper set to NOT embed art. No other changes. The artwork is no linger in the folder....

For FLAC, I have "cover.jpg" in the album subdirectory when I rip. For mp3 files I use ID Tag DSP and have the artwork embedded in the mp3 files (with maximum size 500 x 500). In the mp3 settings, this is "import from: cover.jpg, max pixel size 500x500 and force embedd to JPEG - CHECKED.

Thanks for sharing.... Not what I'm after though. I do not want to embed at all. I want a decent quality jpg in the FLAC folder, and a reduced quality jpg in the Mp3 folder (restricted to 300x300). Hopefully I'll be able to achieve that? Just now sure how!

                  Cheers

                    CD Ripper:

Metadata & ID Tag >> Write to [output folder] as '(none)'
Write ID Tags >> Album Art (checked)

                    Multi-encoder:

for FLAC add DSP Effect ID Tag Processing:

                    Manipulation >> Export To >> Folder.jpg
Deletions >> Single Tag >> [Album Artwork]

for mp3 add DSP Effect ID Tag Processing:

                    Manipulation >> Export To >> Folder.jpg
                    Maximum Pixel Size: 400x400
Deletions >> Single Tag >> [Album Artwork]

                      [SIZE=4]FANTASTIC![/SIZE]

That did it. Thank you very much! All sorted

As an aside and OT question though......

Does anyone know what effect file size has on the artwork? I've just done an album as a test. The unadulterated artwork was:

                      1000 x 1000
                      96 x 96 dpi
                      24 Bit depth
                      158KB

I set the mp3 artwork to be 320 x 320, which I understand is the display setting for the iPod Classic. I left Max. File Size on ANY. This is what I got:

                      320 x 320
                      96 x 96 dpi
                      24 Bit depth
                      105KB

I then changed Max File Size to 50KB. Everything stayed the same other than the size. So I got:

                      320 x 320
                      96 x 96 dpi
                      24 Bit depth
                      49KB

So what's actually changed to reduce the file size by so much?

                      Cheers

Ah, I see. I just compared them and could not see much difference between the two compressed files, so I guess I might as well restrict to 50kb for use on an iPod (where every MB counts for me).
