CD Ripper Questions / Features (new user)

    Hi,

I have been a user of the DBpoweramp reference suite v13 for a few years. I upgraded to v14.2 today.

I'm very happy with the Batch Converter application.

I have used EAC to rip all my CDs up to now but I have decided to give the DBpoweramp CD Ripper a try.

I have a few questions / observations. I am sorry if there are obvious solutions but I can't find them:

    1. I would like to rip a CD and keep the both the resulting wav and flac files following the procedure. This allows me to create md5 checksums and shntool analysis of both sets of files before deleting the wavs. I can't find any way to this - is it possible without ripping the CD twice?

    2. Is there an option to automatically create log file of the rip and conversion, rather than copy and pasting after every CD?

    3. I can't see any option to create cue sheets. Is this possible? If so, how is it done?

    4. The ability of CD Ripper to download ablum art is very welcome. However, do not want to embed this in to the resulting flac files and would prefer to just have the jpg in the album directory. This appeared to be possible by not ticking the "Album Art" tag option. However, the jpg is still embedded. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong here?

    5. I like the idea of the "Smart Capitilise Tags" option in the meta data menu. However, smart may mean different things to different people. For example, this results in the following track name: "This is What Makes us Girls". I would prefer to capitilise all words, for example "This Is What Makes Us Girls". Is it possible to customise this behaviour?

    Thank you for your help

    Jon

    1. FLAC files already contain a MD5 checksum, there is no need to have wave, if there is a corruption it will become apparent when decoding the flac file.

    2. CD Ripper >> Options >> Secure Settings
at the end of the options list is a whole section on writing log files.

    3. There is a cue image codec in the beta section, however this is for single flac files per whole cd.

    4. If you untick the Album Art option, then only folder.jpg is written.

    5. Just the option to capitalize the first letter of every word, instead of the smart capitalize.

      Hi Spoon,

Many thanks for the quick response.

I am now writing log files - this works well.

I have worked out how to create both wav and flac files by defining a multi encoder. Call me paranoid but I like to have a checksum and shntool analysis of the original wav files, in case I ever want to return the flacs back to wav in the future and verify the contents.

I have unchecked " Album Art" in the meta Data & ID Tag Options > Write ID tags section but I still see album art when opening the file in Winamp. It looks to be unrelated to the CD Ripper application though - I have verified that there is no tag when opening the file in Tagscanner. I've never seen this with files ripped using any other tool - maybe it is related to naming convention, which is different to the one I have been using up to now.

The cue file behaviour isn't what I was looking for, as I rip to multiple files with a cue sheet for reference regarding other information (pre / post gaps, etc). So, I will revert to using EAC to rip CDs. I'll continue to use the excellent batch converter to assist with file format conversions.

Thank you again for your help.

You would see album art, as Winamp would read the folder.jpg
