CD ripper has stopped working

Last year purchased dBpoweramp and started ripping to a Synology NAS without problem. This month we upgraded to a Music Vault Diamond and have just started to rip, the Music Vault came with dBPowerAmp preloaded so I just had to turn it on and start ripping. The first CD worked the next 2 it would open briefly, show the tracs, no meta date then a window would open and state "CD ripper has stopped working" the windows would look for a solution but never finds one. I then tried another CD ripped OK, then the next one it would shut down. The same CD I can load without difficulty on my other desktop computer to a music file. Is it something in the recent version in the Music Vault that could be a problem?

I have never heard of a "Music Vault Diamond", can you point a link to the commercial site?

We have never heard that it is supplied with dBpoweramp.

The Music Vault Diamond is a computer music server by Sound Science in Colorado, reviewed in Absolute Sound and What's Best Forum. Link [URL="http://www.musicvaultcat.com There are different versions MV Pearl, MV Emerald, all with different storage, outlet etc. This music server is conected to a DAC then out to your speakers. The server allows the storage and back up of 2 Terabites, the company installs dBpoweramp, and JRiver media for play back. Basically it's strip down computer just used for music.
Hope that helps, the web site is somewhat sparse in a lot of detail, but has a good product.

Clear, reinstall and rip a few discs on the default settings, then start reenabling advanced options, such as c2 pointers, one at a time, testing ripping after each option.

Thanks Spoon, I tried your suggestion, no go, after the 'clear' I put a CD in to rip - same thing happens CDRipper stops working, it identifies the number of tracks then shuts down. I tried re-installing dB, same problem, because I can rip these same CD's on my other computer without difficulty, I was wondering if it has to do with the CD driver - in the Music Vault it is a Plextor 8320SA.

Here is a little more info, for the problem of CD ripper. When we purchased the Music Vault we had JRiver installed for the play back ability, but what I didn't know at the time was if will also rip CD's. So the manufacturer of the MV suggested trying the JRiver for ripping, mostly to see if it was a problem with the Plextor drive. Well they all rip perfectly, so now I can rip, but doesn't answer the problem with the dBPoweramp. Would prefer dB, but might not have a choice.

Enable the debug option, open dbpoweramp configuration >> music converter.

Then start cd ripper, when it crashes post the log please (it will automatically show in notepad)

The note pad, showed DBG563E.tmp in the top bar - nothing actually written in the 'notepad' itself.

Start with no CD in the drive and try disabling all the metadata providers, then enable just freedb, if that works keep enabling one at a time until you find what is causing the crash (likely to be AMG).

You were absolutely right, it was the AMG - so I have just left it disabled, the other sources seem to be enough. Occationally I am missing album art, on some the 2 CD classical issues, however all the other info is there so this a very minor issue, l would think not even related to dBpoweramp at all.
