    Please help!

During the last year (using dBpoweramp) I ripped my complete CD collection, totalling near 7000 CDs.
I have just bought a PS Audio PWD with Bridge (= streamer + DAc) and installed PlugPlayer as a controller on my Mac.
Now, all of a sudden, my files are a complete mess: Album Artists have been changed (e.g. one of the Artist in the "list of Artists" becomes now the "Album Artist"), parts of the "Album Artist" becomes the Title, Tracks become Artists, etc.
I am completely sure this was NOT the case after I ripped the CDs. E.g. I ripped the Bernstein symphonic edition and all ripped CDs were "present and visible as they should have been" after that; now just a couple of the 80 or so CDs are in the Album list or can be tracked down searching for "Bernstein".
It seems really to be a problem at the file level (meta tags) because when I use as a server eLyric Music Manger, or the server on my LaCie NAS, the same mess appears.
I hope somebody is able and willing to help me...

In Windows, for one of the files, right click >> Edit ID Tags to look at the tags for that one file.

Then the original tags are gone. You need to find what changed them, for example Windows Media Player will happily replace ID Tags for all music it can read.

Have you heard about eLyric Music Manager messing things up?

My suggestion would be to revert to your backup (with 7,000 disks I hope you have several) so you have your tags back, then make a new backup, and find a better music management/player system that doesn't mess with your tags. Most good ones don't.

Asset from dbpa is certainly one. I'm sure there are numerous options. I personally use SqueezeBox players (as the design is TCP based and independent of the soundcard, etc. of the computer running the music database (which in this case is Logitech Media Server (LMS). The Touch and Transporter handle 24/96 files natively, and all work with FLAC, ALAC, mp3, AAC, etc. There are lots of "plugins" for customization if one desires. I have about 70,000 FLAC and about 200,000 mp3 or AAC files and everything works very smoothly, and I control everything from either my laptop, or apps on ipad/iphone. The VB Appliances below are just headless computers sitting next to my router in a back room cabinet, containing all my music files along with running the LMS music server software and are on 24/7. And I only need one of these at each location (one location is home one is weekend cabin).

Location 1: VB Appliance 6TB (1.10) > LMS 7.7.1 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio)
                  Location 2: VB Appliance 3TB (2.0) > LMS 7.7.1 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio)
                  Office: Win7(64) > LMS 7.7.1 > SqueezePlay
                  Retired: SB3, Duet Receiver
Controllers: iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop
Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Additional Tagging - mp3tag
