Re: C2, Drive and encoding questions

Thks for the reply but when [auto] is set and you use the dropdown it states:
    1 mono
    2 stereo [auto]
    3 joint stereo
    4 forced joint stereo
    .
    .
maybe a small typo or does that have to do with my vbr 0 setting?

why does enoding -normal -slow -fast exsist when it is not used and does not add quality?

could you also tell me why it never creates a new folder ("Album CD XY") when I set the Naming to:
    [IFCOMP][album]\[IFMULTI][album] CD [disc]\[][artist] - [album] - [track] - [title][][IF!COMP][artist]\[artist] - [album][IFMULTI] CD [disc]\[][artist] - [album] - [track] - [title][]
It does everything else except whit multi disc:
create folder with disc * when comp.: Album\[Never a new folder here when multi disc]\Artist - Album - Track - Title
never another folder with disc * when single artist: Artist\Artist - Album [No disc * here when multi]\Artist - Album - Track - Title

and yes the tested cds were part of a collection of a few and showed as such (i.e. 1/2 etc) under tag I did disable disc number inclusion after the album tag (because I thought the tags and the filename are seperate) and there is a seperate Disc * field anyway... is the interpreter for filename [disc] taking the values not from the disc tag field disc but from the album name field???
    driving me mad...

      >2 stereo [auto]

This is joint stereo for most modes (lame its self selects what it thinks is best)

      >why does enoding -normal -slow -fast exsist when it is not used and does not add quality?

I am sure I did not say it was not used, just that it does not effect the quality by much

      [IFCOMP][album]\[IFMULTI][album] CD [disc]\[][artist] - [album] - [track] - [title][]
      [IF!COMP][artist]\[artist] - [album][IFMULTI] CD [disc]\[][artist] - [album] - [track] - [title][]

That is the naming broken down, you are best:

      [album]\[IFCOMP][IFMULTI][album] CD [disc]\[][artist] - [album] - [track] - [title][][IF!COMP][artist]\[artist] - [album][IFMULTI] CD [disc]\[][artist] - [album] - [track] - [title][]

Re: C2, Drive and encoding questions

Thanks for your reply, you are the best!

However won't your naming always result in a folder with the album name first (even when not a comp.)?
        [album]\[IFCOMP][IFMULTI][album] CD [disc]\[][artist] - [album] - [track] - [title][][IF!COMP][artist]\[artist] - [album][IFMULTI] CD [disc]\[][artist] - [album] - [track] - [title][]

I tried to get it to have a folder with album name only when a comp. otherwise it should have a folder with the artist, then a folder artist - album. In both instances I also would have liked a folder with the CD * if there were multiple CDs (with comp. that CD folder should only be created if there where multi discs, and with the artist folder it should just be tagged on...).
(for ex.: Motown Classic Gold\Mowtown Classic Gold CD 2\Marvin Gaye.... otherwise (no multi CDs) Mowtown Classic Gold\Marvin Gaye...
        with no comp: Madonna\Madonna - GHV2 CD 2\Madonna... otherwise (single disc) Madonna\Madonna - Ray of Light\Madonna...)

        Thanks for your help!

          Perhaps you want:

          [IFCOMP][album]\[album][IFMULTI] CD [disc]\[][artist] - [album] - [track] - [title][][IF!COMP][artist]\[artist] - [album][IFMULTI] CD [disc]\[][artist] - [album] - [track] - [title][]

Re: C2, Drive and encoding questions

Thank you! You are super! This is almost perfect (I would have perferred to not even have a second album folder if it is a comp with a single disc that's why I tried: [IFCOMP][album]\[IFMULTI][album] CD [disc]\[][artist] - [album] - [track] - [title][][IF!COMP][artist]\[artist] - [album][IFMULTI] CD [disc]\[][artist] - [album] - [track] - [title][] which is very similar to yours (except I try to only invoke the second folder within the multi disc).
My version did not really do anything with multi cd's though (I hope yours does)...
Am I correct that the tag: Disc 1/2 (or similar) causes the multi disc to have effect? Or do I have to label the album field "GHV2 CD 2" (for ex.)? I always try to just have the Disc * tag tell me what disc it is and leave the Album title pure (e.g. GHV2)...
Really strange with all multi CDs I am using (single artist and comp) it did not have an effect....
BTW I think it would really be great if there was something similar to AccurateRip for DVDs and BluRay... as you may know there are much fewer of those compared to music CDs...so it might even be easier to do...

Disc 1/2 would cause [IFMULTI] to execute that part as it is true

                Thanks for your answer.
Strange, even though all is set correctly it often does not do it...
Quick question: can or will some drives, when ripping, correct scratches better than others? Will the C2 detection play a big (and good) part in that? I am wondering because I am thinking of buying a drive just for these purposes (and it is hard figuring out what drives correctly support C2 and also do a good job in error correction there simply is very little reliable info on this from the retailers/manufacturers) it also seems that with all the combo drives proper (or any) C2 detection was quietly abandoned.
I only have a scrached CDs so I don't know if it is worth the time and money; and as I understand if you get a matching Accuraterip it does not matter anyway...
                Thanks for your reply
P.S. Any thoughts on offering AccurateRip for DVD BluR?

Re: C2, Drive and encoding questions

Well,I checked and rechecked: It just won't give me a second folder if there are multiple disks although my parameters seem correct... well at least it does not overwrite anything just throws all discs in one folder. Also I guess that it is normal when the cpu works quite hard (Fan kicks in normally that happens seldom) when searching for popular cover art (selecting Choose Art and having 5000 x 5000 as the max cover art size)...
Oh and a small recommendation: it would be helpful to be able to view tags like year, composer etc in the main layout for any artist (only works when selecting comilation I guess). Right now you can only edit the year for the whole album, and you can't change the Composer in the row list, only in the tag field above... would be grat if that would also work like the "title" wich you can edit in the row list...
