While I've seen many conversations on the web regarding the the difference between ripping ALAC via iTunes and DBPowerAmp has a fair amount to do with the secure ripping features in DB that iTunes lacks, I wanted to get a feel for the actual encoding of ALAC itself, and whether there would be differences in the results given the reverse engineering of non-Apple ALAC encoders? Is there likely to ever be any type of compatibility issues with iTunes if a non-iTunes encoder is used assuming I mainly use iTunes for organizing and playing my music?
Thank you!
