    CDGrab.exe crashes

I'm currently using dBpoweramp R14, since the software I used previously (jetaudio) can't rip multiple CDs at the same time (I'm ripping a music collection, which takes a lot of time). However my experience has not turned out as smooth as I had hoped.
The speed it can rip my CDs is higher, but the program seems unstable. When I try to retrieve metadata, the program freezes, usually for a considerable period of time (the metadata retrieval is about 10-100 times slower than in jetaudio, and I have a fast internet connection), and it may also crash quite a lot, either it just shuts down without warning, or it gives the error message "CDGrab.exe has stopped working".
This is very annoying, and googling gives few results (I found two threads on this forum, the latest one from 2006, that covered this issue).
Unchecking various sources of metadata doesn't seem to help at all.

Does anyone have an idea of how to solve my problem?

How long does it take to get the metadata? It should take no more than 60 seconds.

Well it takes just about 60 seconds to get the data, which is very slow (one of my burners can burn more than half a CD in that time), unacceptable as it took less than 3 seconds with jetaudio. Also that instance of dbP is forzen in that time (does not respond at all).

Edit: Many times I have to click the meta-button 2 times, since it seems to fail trying to retrieve the data, so it may take more than 60 seconds average.

It seems like I have to press the meta-button twice always now. This is very annoying. I could just as well rip using jetaudio (which is not even a ripping program), as it would work faster (omitting the fact that I rip from 3 DVD drives at the same time).

There is something network related which is stopping it, as dBpoweramp puts out the request to 4 providers, and for all 4 to not work, that says something about dbpoweramp being blocked.

Ok. I'm using eset NOD32 AV. Is it possible that it may be interfering?

              Try disabling it.

I disabled it, but it still takes as much time to retrieve the data (perhaps it is a little bit faster, but that may be placebo). What else could be in the way?

It always will take 60 seconds, if you want it the same as jetaudio, disable all the providers in CD Ripper except freedb, as this is the only one it uses. The other providers might take longer to retrieve.

Ok, it is clearly faster now. But a problem still remains: If I click 'rip' without click the 'meta' button first it will crash during metadata retrieval (or it will display the correctly obtained data a short time, and then reset to "track 1", "track 2" etc., before it crashes).

So you are saying it retrieves the metadata, shows the correct titles, but crashes if you click Rip.

But if you manually click 'meta', then rip it does not crash?
