Wrong rip when the Sample offset is defined

    Hello,

I have the following problem when I rip a CD:
If I reset the field "Sample Offset" in the CD ROM configuration and I rip any tracks of the Titanic CD, I got an accurate confidence of 132

If I compare the .wav files in hexa, I see a difference of 24 bytes between the two files.

Any idea how to solve the issue ?

Try R14.1 in the beta section, the log files are more consise (and will match across all pressings) it might shed a little light on it.

Re: Wrong rip when the Sample offset is defined

After the installation of the R14.1 beta, I ripped the first track with the offset sample set to +6 and a got the same result that with the R14:

      Code:
      Track 1: Ripped LBA 0 to 13730 (3:03) in 0:18. Filename: E:\Music\James Horner\Titanic (Music from the Motion Picture)\01 James Horner - Never an Absolution.flac

        AccurateRip Verified Confidence 132 [CRCv1 c6cc8a70]
AccurateRip Verified Confidence 70 [CRCv1 29d45685], Using Pressing Offset +220

AccurateRip Verified Confidence 37 [CRCv1 d619a7b8], Using Pressing Offset +431
When the accurate offset was not initialized, I got the following log:

      Code:
      Track 1: Ripped LBA 0 to 13730 (3:03) in 0:38. Filename: E:\Music\James Horner\Titanic (Music from the Motion Picture)\01 James Horner - Never an Absolution.flac

Re: Wrong rip when the Sample offset is defined

It does not look like the actual offset was changed, AccurateRip contains routines to stop tampering with offsets as they should not really be ever changed, especially a 14.1 can show all the pressing offsets now.

Re: Wrong rip when the Sample offset is defined

          I don't understand why when I reset the accurerip I got the CRCv1 "c6cc8a70" and when I use the suggested offset +6, I got the CRCv2 "9f14e33a".

What is the difference between CRC v1 and v2 ?

If you are manually tampering with the offset then the results are going to be unpredictable.

Re: Wrong rip when the Sample offset is defined

I don't manipulate the offset manually:
In the first case, I reset the offset (it displays "AccurateRip to find"). When I rip the CD, I got the CRC v1 "c6cc8a70"

After that, if I put the CD again in the drive, dbpoweramp suggests me to configure the AccurateRip value. I configure it as suggested and when I rip the CD, I got the CRC v2 "9f14e33a"

I understand, in which case there is a bug in R14 because it should not try to check against AccurateRip until an offset is found...I will correct for R14.1

Re: Wrong rip when the Sample offset is defined

Thanks a lot for your answer.

Just an additional comment: During calibration, the saved rip file is equivalent to an offset of 0.

If I userstand correctly between accuraterip v1 and v2:
Today, a lot of CDs were ripped and checked in crc v1. When I rip a CD with dbpoweramp R14 and upper, the confidence is compared only with the crc v2. That is why the confidence can be pretty small compared to a version using accuraterip v1.
In this case, can I suggest you to compute the accuraterip crc in both v1 and v2 and to add the confidence number.

                  Example:
For a track, if accuraterip crc v1= 132 and accuraterip crc v2=2, dbpoweramp can display "confidence 134 (132+2)"

Re: Wrong rip when the Sample offset is defined

R14 checks against v1 and v2 CRCs and will present a v2 CRC if it is present. R14.1 will display both 132 and 2, and the other pressings.
