    Ripnas essentials & AccurateRip help

    Hi,

I'm not very technical so appologies if some of this doesnt make sense.

Recently bought a Windows Home Server box to use as a music server, only to find that the only DBpoweamp software I can use is RIPNAS essentials which doesnt support accuraterip or C2 error pointers. Or at least I dont think it does ?

Can anyone suggest what my best options would be ?

The options I think I have are:

    1) sell it and buy a windows 7 PC and use that.

    2) use a windows 7 PC to do the ripping part and hold or transfer the data onto my WHS box.

    3) format the HDD's in the WHS box and install windows 7. I imagin there may be problems with the OS/hardware incompatibility as it only has 4 USB connections and an ESATA, no connections for keyboard/screen unless I could use USB variants ? By the way it's an Acer Easystore H340.

    4) is it possible to maybe run a windows 7 OS on a flash drive and use the HDD's in the WHS to write to ? or make it into a dual boot machine ??

Is there any advantage/disadvantage to using a windows 7 PC as a music server ? I went for WHS because the RIPNAS box uses it so assumed it was the best OS to have but it seems only the RIPNAS complete box solution can do accuraterip/C2 pointers with WHS (which isnt blatantly obvious

Any help or suggestions appreciated. I havent started ripping my collection yet as I want to get it setup properly first do I'm not wasting my time.

    Thanks
    Bob

    5) Connect to the WHS box through remote desktop and install dBpoweramp Reference and rip through remote desktop.

Thanks, I thought that would be the best option. Is there any way of upgrading as I have already paid out my $45 for the essentials ?

          Thanks for that, much appreciated.

Just another thought (bearing in mind i'm not techie). Would it be possible to run DBpoweamp on say a laptop/desktop, ripping to the WHS box via a DVD drive which is connected to the WHS box, or would the DVD drive have to be connected to the laptop/desktop ?

The dvd drive has to be local to the machine.
