    dbpoweramp new install not working

    Hello
After purchasing and downloading dbpoweramp ref 14 earlier this week, I was hoping to make a start on my new ripping project today.

I have always used EAC previously but after reading an article on computer audiophile about the best way to rip and achive CD libraries, since I wanted to encode into 3 different formats, and because of the better meta tagging associated with dbpoweramp, I decided to give it a try.

However, I just can't seem to get it to work.

As far as I can tell, the install went ok, and I've set up the multi coder to allow me to produce a FLAC, AIFF and mp3 copy of each CD I rip.

These are all going to be stored on a Netgrear ready NAS that I've also purchased for the project.

When I put the first CD in, initially things looked ok with it being recognised - album information and artwork appeared fine, and it confirmed that it was an album recognised in accurate rip.

However, when I press rip, it simply went through each of the tracks and put a red cross next to them and then I get a list of all the tracks, each reporting an error in the report.

After trying a couple of different cds, I also went into the settings - my CD rom is recognised (it's an old Plextor px 40 ts) but when I wanted to check the cache, it told me that the CD player wasn't recognised.

This is incredibly frustrating, especially since I've only moved over from EAC because of the supposed ease of use of dbpoweramp.

Please can someone help, or if not, I'll shall be looking for a refund.

    Thanks

    Steve

What is the exact error it is reporting?

Re: dbpoweramp new install not working

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

I've just come back into the office to check.

When I press the rip button, it seems to rip immediately down the list of songs and puts a red cross and Error in the Rip Status column.

      The Error report then says

Error ripping to [Multi Encoder], 'Track 1' to c:documents\my documents etc
Unable to read CD, check CD disc (frame LBA 15976 ripping 26 frames track end LBA 15795) [clRipperBurst:Rip]

It says something similar for each track

This is not the path that I've asked it to send the music to either (it should be going to the ReadyNAS

I've tried ripping to the computer desktop, and still nothing

      Cheers

      Steve

          Hi Spoon
Thanks for the help - that got it going.
I thought all was well, but I've had problems with 2 CDs where the final track won't rip. They are both very long tracks (20mins plus) and whereas all of the other tracks rips ok with the accurate rip tick, these show an error and similar information to what I posted previously.

Can you shed any light on why this might be happening.

Obviously for my archiving, I need all of the tracks to rip properly.

          Thanks

          Steve

I've just tried with different settings. It appears to start ripping but within a few seconds, I get this

Unable to rip CD, check CD disk (frame LBA 173848 ripping 26 frames track end LBA 256668) [clRipperSecure::Rip]

            Hope you can help

Normally such an error (if every other cd rips fine) is the cd drive being unable to read a whole segment off the disc.

Can you explain why this happens?
And is it to do with the length of track involved?
I really wanted to use my Plextor drive for the ripping process but will perhaps try my other pc to see if a newer DVD drive will work for just these CDs that don't rip properly on this one.
                Thanks

Nothing to do with track length, a never drive might well rip better

Re: dbpoweramp new install not working

Ok - I've tried ripping the same album on my other PC and it has ripped the final track fine so not quite sure what's happened there.

But, it's way slower at ripping than the Plextor, despite being a much more powerful pc.

Never mind - as long as I'm getting accurate rips, I don't mind too much.

My next question concerns album art. When I tested this album on my new PC I just got it to rip to my desktop and in the folder where it's rip, there is also the jpeg of the album art, but I'm not finding that with my original rips.

Is there a setting to place a copy of the album art in the folder as well as the ripped songs?

                    Steve

By default a folder.jpg is written to the output folder as well as embedding the album art.
