Secure Rip Does Not Work Very Good For Me

I'm using version 14 reference of dbpoweramp. If I rip a CD using secure rip, the rip will never show as error free and will always re-rip every CD. Due to the number of retries it always takes and the read slowdown, it will take over one hour to rip a CD in perfect condition (read that as not a single scratch on the play side). It has taken over two hours to rip a single CD.

The funny thing is when I turn off secure rip and use Burst, all my CDs show as ripped accurately and match the AccurateRip results in the database. This seems to be an issue of some form with Secure Rip on my system.

I've actually stopped using dbpoweramp CD ripper and record digitally from a CD transport connected to my audio interface in Sound Forge. My recording actually goes faster than using dbpoweramp CD Ripper in secure mode.

I have two SATA BluRay drives in my system that I rip from-- LG WH10LS30

Try unchecking the c2 option (if it is checked).

Thanks. C2 was checked and turnning it off results in encoding after one ripping pass.

What are the exact models of CD drives you have?

They are LG drives. The model is WH10LS30. These drives passed the C2 test without issue, which was why I turned the option on.

I don't think LG drives have very good implementation of C2. I also have had issues with LG drives. When I first did the C2 test with a simulated CD, it found a C2 error almost immediately. So I then tried the test with a brand new CD and the got the same result.

I can only guess that the LG drive was reporting false positives.

Once I turned C2 off, the LG drive rips very well. I am even able to rip tracks that my other drives have problems with.

I couldn't find a way to edit my earlier post. That above excerpt should be "simulated damaged CD."

It is in no doubt that R14 can struggle with c2 on a small subset of drives, this will be investigated and fixed in R14.1
