    CD Ripper doesn't read CDTEXT

Got a freebie CD from a newspaper for which iTunes got the track details but CD ripper didn't - thought it was just that someone had updated the itunes db with info but nobody had yet done that for CD Ripper's sources. However, when I played the CD in the car, I noticed it had CDtext. So, told CD ripper to explicitly try CDtext as a source, but still no luck. Or maybe it's because I had manually given the CD an album title but couldn't be bothered entering the tracks myself?

Anyway, it seems as if some programs can see the CDtext, while others can't. MediaMonkey can't as well, for example, but randomly downloading something called All4CDlabeller does seem to pick them up - as does WMP.

Are there different formats of CDtext that some programs recognise while others don't?

Do you want to loan this CD to me so I can be checked out?

For what it is worth, I too have had some problems with the ripper reading CD Text information.

There is one CD in my collection which, at the time, was not in any of the online databases. The disc did, however, have CD Text. The ripper was able to read this information. However, the ripper was no longer able to read this information after upgrading to a newer version. (I can't remember which one, but I do know it was prior to 13.5.)

Sure - let me know where to send it to and I'll get round to it sometime this week hopefully. It's the "Scottish Artists Festival of Summer Sounds" which came free with the Scotland on Sunday newspaper a few weeks back. Quite a good mix which has already prompted me to go and buy a couple of CDs by the artists on it.

        Thanks

I have sourced a AD-7530A because I could not test on the optiarc I had. Hope to get it soon.

Re: CD Ripper doesn't read CDTEXT

Here are my findings, got the 7530A, WMP12 would not read CD text from it on Windows 7, but CD Ripper from R14 would. So I went back to my Blu-ray writer on the development machine, this also now reads the CD text where as before I am sure it was not. So either R14 does something different, or more likely it is because in the mean time I have updated the chipset drivers for the laptop, previously it was using the Microsoft generic IDE SATA controller, now it is using the intel drivers.
