PerfectMeta - AMG favoured above others?

I know that looking up CDs is often problematic with short CDs such as singles, but today I just had a mis-recognized album: 'The Original Sound of Sheffield '78/'82' by Cabaret Voltaire. It has 14 tracks, and is 65 minutes long. CD Ripper picked it up as a different Cabaret Voltaire record 'Johnny YesNo', which only has 6 tracks and is about 37 minutes long.

Fair enough, PerfectMeta can't get everything right (despite the name! :D), but when I did the Alt+M thing to review the matches, I see that GD3, MusicBrainz and Freedb all selected the right album (The Original Sound), only AMG mis-picked it. Therefore, what is PerfectMeta's algorithm for choosing the result? It seems to have picked AMG but I think the agreement of GD3, MusicBrainz and Freedb should override it.

Finally, related to this - when you change the match manually like this, it doesn't re-fetch the album art, so in this case I was still stuck with the mis-matched cover from AMG. Is there a way to force it to refresh just the cover art? I couldn't see anything. I am using the R14 beta.

Yes it is, one has to win out, but if GD3 and Musicbrainz were identical then they should have won out.

The latest R14 beta has a button 'choose art' next to the album art.

But the 'choose art' button only allows you to select from covers it has already looked up - if the CD is not recognized correctly, those covers available are for the wrong CD.

e.g. In the case above, even after I changed the metadata, the choose art selector still only shows covers (in this case just the one) for 'Johnny YesNo' - I want to be able to force it to look up the covers again for 'The Original Sound of Sheffield'.

I have been trying to get spoon to rebalanced this for years. Unfortunately even if there were small differences in the other 3 AMG wins.

Can you post a screenshot of the meta-data screen for this disc?

Not sure how to make smaller thumbnail of this - some other forums do it automatically.
While we're at it - why isn't the PerfectMeta review window re-sizeable (and maximizable). Does it determine it's size based on my screen resolution, or is it just coincidence that it just fits on my screen?

If artwork was available from amg and gd3 they would appear on the choose art window. Plus any art from the artist / album name as found on the internet.

Re: PerfectMeta - AMG favoured above others?

I think perhaps we are misunderstanding each other - in the example above, I insert the CD 'The Original Sound of Sheffield', PerfectMeta mis-recognizes it as 'Johnny YesNo' and the choose art window has the incorrect image.
I click review metadata, then the GD3 button to change the metadata to 'The Original Sound of Sheffield', then close the review window. The current cover art image is still the incorrect image, from 'Johnny YesNo'. If I click choose art, it still shows images from the internet for 'Johnny YesNo' - there is no way to make it re-search for images for 'The Original Sound of Sheffield'.

Thanks for posting the screen capture.

So only the album name was incorrectly selected?

Spoon, any reason 3 matches would have been overridden by the wrong AMG?

The search for album art uses what ever is typed into the Artist and album boxes, if you have changed from one to the other it should automatically retrieve from the new value.

Make sure you have the perfectmeta option checked.

Re: PerfectMeta - AMG favoured above others?

EliC: I thought I remembered it grabbing the first 6 tracks from AMG and the other tracks were left as 'Track 7' but I must be mis-remembering as I can't get it to pick it up like that again (have disabled dBpoweramp cache as a meta source).
It only gets ratings and composers for the first 6 tracks, which come from AMG I think and so therefore are technically for the album 'Johnny YesNo', but in this case the composer will be the same since it is simply mis-recognized as another Cabaret Voltaire album - I assume if it was mis-matched as another artist as well, this data would be incorrect. (The ratings I'm not really bothered about, they're subjective really...)

Spoon: But when does it do the album art search and how do you make it do it again? If I change the metadata so the album title is correct ('The Original Sound of Sheffield', either by manual typing or by metadata review and selecting GD3), the art is still incorrect. Pressing 'Choose Art' brings up a selection window with images for 'Johnny YesNo' - it does not search again. I have PerfectMeta enabled, of course. Clicking the Meta button again will re-fetch the metadata and search for cover art, but the album title gets reset to 'Johnny YesNo'. Clicking the Refresh button does I don't know what - it doesn't change the metadata.
I really don't think I'm missing anything here - there simply appears to be no way to make it search again on the new metadata. If there is, it looks like it needs to be more prominent!

This is disappointing. In a case like this where AMG is 99.99999% wrong (just got the correct artist) all of its data should be discarded. I would think this should be pretty easy to detect since there are 14 tracks and AMG only returned an album with 7 and all the 3 other sources matched perfectly and had data for all 14 tracks...

Click the metadata button again to reget from the database.

Re: PerfectMeta - AMG favoured above others?

Doesn't work. Earlier you mentioned the cover art search should use whatever is in the artist and album text fields - how? when? It doesn't change automatically when you change the text, so what triggers a cover art look up? Clicking Choose Art doesn't. Clicking review metadata doesn't. Clicking the current image doesn't. 'Choose (from Internet)' in the drop-down from the + above the artwork box doesn't. Clicking the Meta button again does, but it resets what is in the Artist and Album fields!

                          Here is another example:

                          1. Insert 'Ash - There's A Star' CD (it's a 3 track single)
                          2. It is detected as 'Britney Spears - Singles Box' (let's leave aside incorrect meta detection and what PerfectMeta thinks at this point)
                          3. The cover art is Britney Spears.
                          4. Manually change meta data to Ash.
                          5. How to make it search for Ash cover images? I can't see any way. Clicking the Meta button again resets it to Britney Spears.

Do you understand what I mean?

Bump... am I right, is there no way to make it look up the (new) album art again? Or am I missing some secret switch?

Pressing the button shows the current art, waiting about 10-20 seconds and they start appearing in the window, try a popular disc.
