Disc not recognized

I have a large CD library of over 5000 CDs. I've encountered quite a few instances where the cd ripper does not recognize the disc. They aren't scratched. They are playable by media player and wimamp and they aren't in any formats such as SACD, etc. Any ideas as what could be causing this? I don't believe it's copy protection as some of the cds exhibiting the problem were purchased in the 80s. I'm about 60% of the way thru the collection and there are about 40-50 cds with this issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

If they are single track CDs you need to update to R13.4
