    high re-rip frame count on a few tracks in the first pass, no problem second pass

    I am using R13.2 though I experienced the same situation with R13.1

    Occassionally, once every 10-15 CDs, I have a CD where a few tracks do not rip accurately/securely because of a high number of frames that need to be re-ripped. The number of frames to be re-ripped is in excess of 10,000 per track and I have learned that I can immediately, without ejecting the CD, re-rip the affected tracks without a problem. This occurs regardless of whether the CD is in AccurateRip or not.

    Here is the log from a rip illustrating the situation;

    ** Aborted: Have to ReRip 34197 Frames

    That is the entire track, so the AccurateStream feature of your drive failed on that track (ie the drive offset changed - when they should never).

          Thanks. I have a USB drive attached that I will try.

            Hi Kiwi,

            Did this problem resolve with the USB drive? If not, could you try to rip one of the tracks generating many errored frames with C2 turned off to see if that makes a difference?

            I would be interested to know.

            Thanks,
            Bruce

              Bruce,

              I can't say that Brendan's advice was all that useful in that I could immediately re-rip the CD, without changing any settings in dBpoweramp or ejecting it, and get an accurate rip. I have found that having two drives can be useful as sometimes one works for a CD that wouldn't work on the other drive. There is no consistency with this though i.e. I can't say that drive x is always better than drive y.

              I saw a few of your other posts so I know that you are anxious to determine the cause of your problems. Let me know if there is anything else I can do.

                Thanks for your input, Kiwi. Your situation does seem different from mine, in that a clean track that errors out when ripping with dbpa ALWAYS fails with C2 enabled and ALWAYS passes Ultra Secure with C2 disabled, on my LiteON USB drive. The track always passes Ultra Secure with my laptop DVD drive, whether or not C2 is enabled. It appears that the C2 mechanism in dbpa fails with some drives. I am still looking into this.

                Best,
                Bruce

                  I was having a very similar problem and found that enabling a 4 second delay before ripping (in the settings) solved the problem.
