    C2 Error Pointer Questions

Here is my drive info from dBpoweramp:Manufacturer: ATAPI
    CD Drive: DVD A DH20A4P
    Firmware: 9P54
    Serial: 2007/09/27 11:26
    Maximum Speed: 8467 KB/sec (x47)
    Current Speed: 8467 KB/sec (x47)
    Spin-down After: 2 minutes
    Buffer Size: 2 MB
    Accurate Stream: Yes
    C2 Error Pointers: Yes
    Reads ISRC: Yes
    Reads UPC: Yes

    My question is:

According to Spoons secure ripping setup guide it says that if my drive supports C2 error pointers which it does that I should set the Ultra Secure setting to this Minimum Ultra Passes: 1 Maximum Ultra Passes: 2 End After Clean Passes: 1 and I was wondering if I should use this settings because I don't know how well the C2 Error Pointers are supported by my drive.

    Is there a better setting?

Also, I don't know the size of my drive cache, so should I just keep it at 1024Kb?

    Also, one more question.

What makes dBpoweramp secure, so much faster than EAC Secure mode?

      How it interacts with AccurateRip.

Leaving the cache at 1024 is the easy choice.

So should I use those Ultra Secure settings i was talking about early?

          I also have another question.

Is it possible to have an error in a music file i ripped if it ripped with a accuraterip confidence of 3 or above

I ripped a few cds and every cd was verified accurate by accuraterip.

Could there still be errors in those tracks even if accuraterips says it is accurate?

Also, is it a bad idea to rip directly to a external hard drive in flac?

It is possible, about 4 billion to one, chance. So you have more chance of being struck by lightening.

Your ultra settings seem ok to me.

Yes, if there is a manufactoring error in the pressing where some drives will read it "wrong" (and with consistent results) on a burst. At least, that is my only possible explanations for results like http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=17563 .
