    Re: CD Ripper Hang

A 30 second delay can be normal after inserting a new disc, try looking at Windows Explorer and do a refersh on that, it would do the same.

      Hi,

Sorry for the delay, I've been out of the country.

I just have the single Pioneer drive that is a SATA drive; also all of my hard drives are SATA too.

Previously, I had a virtual drive which I though may be causing the problem so I disabled it so that no virtual drives are configured. I then totally all of the software and used the reset program. After rebooting with everything clear, I re-installed the software but the problem remained.

I have experienced similar symptoms to what others have described in this thread. Prior to 13.1, dBpoweramp automatically refreshed whenever a CD was ejected or inserted. Now it requires me to manually press the refresh button to recognize that a CD has been ejected or inserted.

I don't think my problem is the same.

When I put a CD in the drive, it is detected by windows and a dialos box is displayed asking what I want to do. If I choose Rip Audio from CD using dBpoweramp CD ripper; the cd ripper program starts and immediately the mouse pointer changes to an hourglass. The cd ripper application is then 'busy' and is unresponsive to all actions. Therefore attempting to click on the Refresh button does nothing. The problem occurs if I launch the CD ripper manually with a CD in the drive and also if I launch the CD ripper without a CD in the drive.

I have tried everything I can think of but the cd ripper program does not work. I have left the program running busy for up to 20 minutes to see if it eventually recovers.

Also I can't even use the End Task from Task Manger to kill the program when it is stuck in it's 'busy' state.

Are there any other suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Click the arrow beside "Meta" and try unchecking "CD Text".

Is there a command line option for these settings because the cd ripper's GUI is totally unresponsive immediately after starting .... no GUI options / buttons are available while the cd ripper is stuck in it's 'busy' state where the mouse pointer is showing as a hourglass.

                Thanks for the suggestions.

It freezes without a CD in the drive also?

Yes, it freezes if launched manually with no CD in the drive.

All of my other apps work fine with the drive e.g. Nero, Itunes etc.

There is a way to do it manually in the registry:
                      Start --> run --> regedit
                      Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Illustrate\dBpoweramp
Change "CDRipper_Com" to "2", that is the setting for Internal.

                        Hi,

I setting this registry key fixed the problem. Thanks!

It is installed to c:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp or c:\Program Files (x86)\Illustrate\dBpoweramp The 64 bit version of dBpoweramp is installed to: c:\Program Files\dBpoweramp It

to totally clear all the settings, then reinstall.
I completely forgot to respond back on this. After completing these steps, it worked. no more hang issues. I have one more question at this point. It cleared my AMG license, so I paid for it again. This was fine except instead of giving me a year more (I was down to ~30 days anyway), it just gave me what I had remaining. Now I checked it and I have one more day left. What do I need to do to fix this so I get the next year that I paid for?

                          thx

You should have gotten an order number with your new AMG order, did you run the activate program with that order number?
