    Accuracy/Confidence??

I can't find this in FAQ, and I find it hard to believe no one has asked this before, so here I go ...
I have recently ripped two CDs with widely varying results. The first was brand new and the ripper said Accurate (2). The second is second hand, but visibly in good condition, the ripper said Accurate (51). The tags for each say Confidence 2 and the other did say 51 before I inadvertently wiped some of the tags.
Another I have just ripped is also second hand with a heap of visible scratches, the ripper says Accurate (5)
Both of the first two sound fine and so is the one that has visible scratches, so far anyway.
I am somewhat confused, what am I to deduce from these widely diverging numbers? Does a low number indicate more accuracy or less?:headbang:

The low number just indicates less people have ripped the disc and submitted the results back to AccurateRip, or your CD is a different pressing than what most people are ripping. Any number above 2-3 is normally regarded as Accurate.

Thanks for that Lt. I am clearer on that subject now.
So what do I make of Accurate (51)?
And what do I make of a result of Inaccurate (2)? When the CD in question is playing nicely in the background as I write this?
I seem to recall a tutorial on tagging, is there one for Accurate Rip? I think that is what I really need.

        >Inaccurate (2)?

Were all the tracks this, or all accurate and one inaccurate?

          Re: Accuracy/Confidence??

The first 4 tracks were all labeled Inaccurate (2), and, operating on the assumption the CD was the cause of these readings I aborted the rip. Yet the CD plays fine, hence my confusion
And to clarify a related point, what actual information is exchanged when Accurate Rip gives these results? Obviously the whole contents of the CD is not transmitted, is it track length, or ... I don't know what else.

If the entire CD is labeled inaccurate, it normally means the CD is a different pressing and is probably just fine, as long as it is labeled "Secure" if your using Secure ripping.

Thanks Lt, that answered more than one question! :komisch12
But also leads to another, how do I choose "Secure" I am sure this is under my nose, but ...
              I am using version 12.4, I think

If you have the PowerPack or Reference, click on the "Options" button and choose "Secure" for the rip mode instead of Burst.

I just had this same situation pop up. The application tells you there are tracks that are inaccurate but there's nothing there to tell you what, if anything, to do about it. It'd be like a virus program telling you that you have a virus and doing nothing else.

The program should, in my opinion, have a hot-link on "Inaccurate (x)" and then when I click it, it tells me the above information. I'd have felt much better about it. As it is now I don't recall if it said it was "Secure" or not. I'd have looked for that if I could get this information from the app itself.
