Track Number "not" populated by Ripper

I am using Ref 13.0.0.2 to rip CD's

Unfortunately, I am having issues with Track Number. What is my evidence?

1. Windows Media Player 11 sometimes does not pick up the track number when the newly ripped CD is added to its library
2. Logitech's Slim Devices's SqueezeCenter 7.1 or 7.2 never pick up the track number - the tracks are always listed in alphabetical order
3. Using Windows XP SP2 Explorer, I can view some metaTag columns automatically and I can add more by right-clicking on the column heading. There are 2 columns with the name 'Track Number'. The column that matters IMO near the top of the column list in between Year and Genre is empty. It is the one near the bottom of the list in between Album and Genre reached after clicking More... that is populated

Track Number is the most painful example - it occurs for Year and Genre as well

What has to happen to fix this?

PS WMP can rip and populate the tags as I would expect and there are no problems with track order in either WMP or the Squeezebox

Edit: I think your "13.0.0.2" is the same as r13.1, but use dBpoweramp Configuration to verify.

Did you change the WMA track writing options in 'dBpoweramp Configuration' >> Codecs >> Advanced?

Just tried in WMP and Vista both display the track number.

No, I did not change the WMA writing options. They are set to:
Wave ID Tagging
Tag Creation - (default - LIST & ID3)
LIST Chunk Position - [data][LIST]
LIST Album Tag - IPRD
LIST Track Tag - ITRK
LIST Padding Type - 'JUNK' Chunk
LIST Padding Size - 2KB
ID3v2 Version - v2.3
ID3v2 Text Encodong - ANSI

Is this what you would expect?

Deselecting 'Enable Explorer Columns' has removed the duplicate column entries in Windows Explorer

After this I rebooted the computer and re-ripped a CD and I still have the same issue - the track number and other meta data columns in Windows Explorer are empty
The meta data appears correctly in the yellow pop up window when hovering the cursor over the file in Windows Explorer and also when right-clicking and Edit-ID Tag

You put in the Wave ID tagging settings, not the WMA settings. They are below the WAV settings and are labeled "Windows Media Audio ID Tagging".

I do not have any WMA settings to provide

Under the "ID Tagging" heading there are only two sub-headings:
- mp3 ID Tagging
- Wave ID Tagging

The next heading is "Decoder Options"

PS I have been using v13.1 beta for all of this thread

Reinstall the WMA Codec from codec central, it looks like you are missing the decoder which does the tagging.

I am trying everything but with squezecenter I still get the numbers alplabetical?

what else can I check?

When I ripp to flac, it does work, but if I rip to wav, I get the alphabetical order.:blush:
so maybe to tagging on wav files is not working the way I want:komisch9:

Squeezecenter will not read wave tags.
