Re: How may I crop all files to 5s length regardless of .EXT?
I guess that using "ID Tag Update" isn't the right way to go. "ID Tag Update" is just for updating the metadata of your files. I would try to use a converter to the same codec format as the source in combination with the maximum length (and the "ID Tag Update" if neccessary).

When converting lossy formats, such as mp3, the mp3 is uncompressed, then recompressed. The original format does not really matter any more, in that if you had a aac file and mp3 file, you would not have to reconvert each to its respective format.

Except I need to preserve the format. I can find no way of processing different formats (.EXTs) to set the length whilst preserving the format... except by running dBpa separately for each format.

You could probably do it with Multi-encoder with the DSP effect 'Conditional Encode', if we update multi-encoder to work with the dsp effect conditional encode (such as add a mp3 encoder and dsp effect conditional encode to only encode if the source ext is .mp3)
