Does Asset read the TBPM field?

I'm trying to index BPM in Asset and it works with FLAC but not mp3.

It seems that the TBPM field for ID3 tags is not supported?

    Any input on this?

I have tried Asset R6 and R7, ID3v2.3 and ID3v2.4, different tagging software - nothing works.

    FLAC no problem.

If you have dBpoweramp, right click >> edit id tags

This will tell you the field name, then you would have to add this to the database so Asset scans that field.

These are instructions for the Windows version. For Linux/Mac/QNAP, see below. Asset has the ability to display custom ID Tags (non-standard), with a little configuring. For example your FLAC library contains a unique tag of 'MOOD', you can add this to asset by: Start >> Run >> Regedit: Browse to:

Re: Does Asset read the TBPM field?

It turns out that you need to index TEMPO if you want Asset to read the TBPM field in mp3's... Indexing BPM does not work for mp3, but is needed for FLAC.

The workaround, since you obviously want to have the two file formats in the same "beats per minute" tree, is to re-tag all your FLACs with a TEMPO field, but hey... that shouldn't be necessary when BPM is the proper term (and is also more commonly used).

It's also awkward since BPM (TBPM) and TEMPO (SYTC) are two different things: https://id3.org/id3v2.3.0

It would suit better if indexing BPM would read the TBPM/BPM fields and indexing TEMPO would read the SYTC/TEMPO fields.

Spoon, what do you think - would you consider to correct this in R7?

It now works in R7 beta 4 to index BPM for mp3's. Thanks!
