Naim App and the Asset smart setting on a Qnap NAS

    Hi all,

I have just purchased the full version of Asset running it on a Qnap 453-A and have come across a annoying issue regarding the smart setting.

All is well when viewing the Artist through the A B C selections down the left hand side, i.e. The Who are found under W and shown as The Who.

When I look for through All Artists The Who are found under T not W

The most annoying thing is everything is displayed correctly in Linn's Kinsky App.

Is this an issue with the Naim App and if so is there a fix?.

    Thx in advance

It must be, our program would not give different results.

To me it looks like that the Naim app asks for "artist sort" in the first and for "artist" in the second case, while the Linn asks for "artist sort" in both cases.

Have you checked the tags of those Who tracks?

The 'Smart' setting works fine for me (R5.1 on RPi, with Naim App 5.6) and my artists being listed under 'The' reference but sorted by the name.

        As per Configuration manual:
The Artist & Album Handling has 3 modes (examples using The Beetles):
Smart: this mode keeps the artist text as The Beetles, yet sorts the artist under 'B'
Value, The: places the on the end, for example Beetles, The
Leave as is: does not adjust the displayed value or sorted position

You could try the 'Value' setting and see if that works better for you.

        Simon.

          Thanks for the replays,

I do think it's something with the Naim app as every App I have tried including Arcam, Bubble works fine as does the alphabetical search as in the attached screen shots.

I have posted on the Naim forum but TBH only expect the usual party line response on it's the tagging.

I looked at the tree but there seem to be some options missing (++Title).

I will use the Value option as this works as intended.

          Thanks again.
