I have a very serious problem where Asset is refusing to stream mp3s to my device.
I currently have both MP3 and MPEG set to "as is SINGLE" in the configuration; as I've read that will force the server to offer it in only that format. The problem is, when I select an mp3 file; Asset is still streaming WAV. I verified this by looking at the debug output and saw where it was sending transcoded WAVE every single time. To add to this slight bit of confusion; the player on my mobile device isn't reporting WAV, but the original format (which I assume Asset sends as part of headers or tags or something). This happens when anything except [ForceToMP3] is used. I haven't looked to see if it's doing the same thing with every format; but I got as far as noticing it was transcoding all my lossy to WAV. Even with the format set "as-is SINGLE" in configuration, all my OGG, m4a, and MP3 files get forced to wav.
My goal is to be able to have two control point over-rides for my device since the app I'm using will allow you to change part of the client ID; but the only one that works is my "low-bandwidth" option that uses [ForceToMP3] on everything.
The behavior seems to be fine on FLAC files...and I can't imagine this thing not playing mp3 since it supports it with ForceToMP3. IS there something screwed up with my configuration and maybe I should uninstall...make sure I wipe all the previous data from Asset..and start over? Or do I need to contact the person who wrote this thing and figure out what's going on. I'm a little confused about this "as-is" thing apparently not being just "as-is" but transcoding to WAV if the device doesn't support the format.
I'm really confused...this is not how this behaved three years ago when I tried to do uPnP on android. I'd try a different client; but they won't function without wifi and I often access the server through a VPN over WAN.
I don't want to force MP3 as MP3 because that will transcode; and part of the reason I'm doing this is so I don't have to transcode things like mp3 back to mp3.
