yeah, i saw i can also make playlists, great feature btw, but that will not change the fact that my albums grouping will be plagued by albums with one single track in them :P
that's why went this route so i can group and clean up the albums tree. that is what i like to browse.

anyhow, importing my collection in asset actually made me aware of other problems i have with my tags on other albums. so a nice cleanup is in order.

again i am aware my request is something.. unnatural.. not a normal use case. i am more than happy to have found a way to get exactly what i wanted, even with an unusual use case.
but again, even if i had not found a way, i would still keep asset because of the sound my system has using it. would have explored any other idea to get the tree close to something i wanted and just lived with it.

i am actually quite impressed by how fast it is as well, seeing i set it to output everything PCM as WAV, which should result in more ethernet traffic, since WAV is uncompressed, so bigger than flac or mp3 for example, but somehow my streamer starts playback faster, and if i seek, music starts playing faster than using minidlna. sound is snappier and more focused. i am actually amazed that it is the same raspberry pi, with the same usb memory. i use to think that a dlna server is trivial, and there is nothing you can get right or wrong in serving a file. turns out i was quite wrong. amazing what a good piece of sw can do.

all is well that ends well. very happy new user over here :D
    thanks for the help !

      hello again,

do not know if it is ok to.continue here, sort of related yet unrelated.

so i have been cleaning up my tags as asset has exposed some problems.

i had quite a lot od dsd content in dff format, ahich does not sopport tagging.
i have found iso files and made dsf file with correct tagging using sacd extract.
but i still have 2 albums i cont find sacd isos for..
so i would like to ask, is there a particula name format i can give a file so that asset assumes album name from file name?

can dbpoweramp repack? i do not want dff to PCM than dsf. i want direct lossless dff to dsf. is this possible?

any othrr idea anybody can give me? so i either want to.keep dff files but have asset correctly sorth them to an album and artist, or a splution to losslessly go from dff to dsf.

oh, that ia unfortunate... had no idea dff and dsf were so different..

and regarding asset, does it try to derive metadata from file name? if the file has none?
i mean if i separate by dash?
          like artist - album - track.dff?
i mean is there a way i can make asset index files without tags, by giving the file a name built usinh some rules?
i only ask because i observed this behaviour in foobar2k where it used artist - track.dff to fill in the specific fields in the playlist.

if not no biggie, i am fine with having 2 albums under unknown album, but figured i ask here maybe there is a workaround.
dunno who the genius was that decided to post a dsd album with dff files since they have no tagging support...
