Asset stopped working on Synology NAS

Hi there, first post and not very tech minded!

I've been happily running Asset UPnP on my Synology NAS, but after a recent Synology version update, I cannot play anything in my library.

I went into the Synology Diskstation Package Centre and despite Asset being listed in the installed packages and being able to open it when I click on that button so I can scan etc, when I click on the Asset name, there is nothing there; I cannot run, stop, uninstall etc and there is no version number or other info below except Developer: Illustrate. I tried doing a manual update which appeared to go through all the usual stages, but nothing doing. I’m baffled so any help much appreciated!

      Try reinstalling it.

I've tried it a few times and whilst the wizard confirms that it is being updated, nothing changes.

...also, I tried installing a different server (Plex), but it's the same problem, so must be to do with the DSM7 update?

I would normally recommend an Asset uninstall+reinstall cycle, but it will clear all your configuration data, customized settings, etc.
I just updated my Synology unit to DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 7, Asset appears to be functioning OK.
Perhaps try rebooting NAS then checking for firmware updates again?

.. it would appear that NAS vendors are pushing badly tested firmware updates to fix glaring security issues recently, both QNAP and Synology.

Hi, it looks like you're trying to update to the last stable version of Asset from Sep 23. Have you tried manually updating to the Nov 5 Beta version without uninstalling? My Synology DS 1821+ NAS is on the latest DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 2 and I can see the Asset version showing as Beta and running.

Any security software on the NAS?

Hi, I just successfully tested playing from my Asset UPnP server on my cell phone using Foobar Resolute within my local network. I don't have my NAS externally available so I can't test anything externally.

I'm using the latest Synology beta Asset UPnP as shown in the screenshot in my earlier post. If the people who are having issues are NOT using this beta build, I suggest that they try it.

If it doesn't work for them, my question would be whether or not they have tested internally and externally (if their NASes are externally accessible). I think that it would be helpful to isolate whether the issue appears internally, externally, or both.
