I just downloaded dAP, and at first it was working great, but now whenever I try to open it or my music collection, it either doesn't open (dAP) or opens and then closes (my music collection). Please help.

What version are you using? Have you tried the latest beta? (Link below)

I'm currently downloading that now. I'll reply if it still doesn't work

Is it a dBpowerAMP Music Collection? or some other music collection?

It's my music collection from iTunes that I moved to dBpowerAMP.

I don't think the concept of music collection from one system would be the same as in dBpowerAMP. My understanding is that you have to add your audio files to the dB MMC so as to create a music collection in this system, and you can specify criteria of classification to be used by dB MMC. I don't think it can simply take it from elsewehre.

Are you saying that you can not start My Music Collection?

Or is it dAP that doesn't start?

dAP doesn't start. The little icon in the bottom right corner of my screen comes on, but whenever I put my mouse near it, it disappears. Sometimes before it comes up, a window pops up that says amp.exe has encountered a problem and has to close.

EDIT - I just transferred the music files from the iTunes library.

It looks like it's improperly installed or it's corrupted.

Maybe uninstall dAP, download a fresh copy and install it making sure it goes to the same folder as the rest of dBpowerAMP programs. Make sure you're signed in as administrator when you install.

Oh, and I hope you have already downloaded and installed dBpowerAMP Music Converter. All to the one forlder for all these: C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP - which is what the installer proposes in the first palce.

And before loading any files into My Music Collection try right-clicking on an audio file and selecting the option to Play it in dAP. This will check that dAP is correctly installed before you populate the MMC database.

I did that before I populated the MMC database, and guess what. It didn't work.

Are all the audio files you're trying to play in dAP of audio types for which you have the codecs installed in dMC? are any files protected - like in iTunes protected files?

Yes there are iTunes protected files, but I haven't tried playing them yet...
I'll probably convert them into some other format.

EDIT: How do I play iTunes protected files(ones that someone sent to me)?

Is anyone going to answer my question?!

If you are not the original buyer of those iTunes files you cannot ever play them or convert them. The same thing aplies if the files were bought by you but you moved them to another computer. They are useless to you now. They only work on the original computer where they were downloaded as this is where the licenses are stored. And, no, you can't hack them in any way.

The person who gave them to you should have had them converted in the first place and given you unprotected versions.

Information for converting iTunes songs you downloaded would be found in the "DRM and Copy Protection" section of this forum. Note that protected songs a friend sends to you are worthless.

Any other problems?

Nope.
