I am wondering,is there or will there be codeces for Windows media player version 10? I have been trying to convert wav files to wmp files and can't because they are all for version 9. Does anyone have information?

I didn't think that there were any encoding differences between 9 and 10.

No differences in the resulting encoded file for settings that are available in both versions maybe, but the codecs themselves are different programs because they have to interface with different players: WMP 9 vs WMP 10.

It is microsoft and there naming again, the beta of WMA 9.1 is the same codec that ships with Windows Media Player 10, so 9.1 = 10

If there were differences, Microsoft would've made some bogus claim like "WMA 10 @ 32KBPS Superior to Original CD's!"

wait, if wmp 10 and wmp 9 have no difference, would it be better if i stuck to wmp 9 and not install wmp 10? or is installing wmp 10 gonna be better than wmp 9? (option 2: WinAMP! Ownz all players ...[except for dAP])

What I understand it that the codec called beta wma 9.1 is the same as the wma codec used in WMP 10. It is not the same as the wma codec used in WMP 9 which is wma 9. The players themselves are not quite the same. For one thing, WMP 10 only works in Windows XP.

I understand that WMP 10 is only for XP HOWEVER, does this make WMP any better? Any efficiencies, less CPU usage....stuff like that? I got it, but i can't see ANY differences (so far).

WMP 10 Was made to take on iTunes. It also has the ability to automatically sync your library with high capacity players.
