I don't know much about this, but created a channel: irc.freenode.net:6667 channel #dbpoweramp
or log on here: ******** and select "dbpoweramp" from the drop down menu.
or download an easy to use irc clent form here: http://www.xircon.com
or x-chat for windows here: http://www.xchat.org/files/binary/win32/
or x-chat for linux here: http://www.xchat.org/download/
there is no bot to keep it alive so it is there when it's there i guess. anyhow i am there at the moment to see how it works.
/edit update
i have removed the link here as it is no longer associated with the dbpoweramp forums here. i have also unstuck the thread.

if you look at your java script consol in opera i get an error:
http://adserver.terra.com/rmm/detect?WIDTH=780&HEIGHT=394&DATE=01031217&HOUR=08&FONTSIZE=8&KEYWORD=&page=1071613419620&SERVICEHOST=adserver.terra.com&URL=my.lycos.com@mylycos.frontdoor

opera might have a problem by not being able to open a new window when you click to connect.

i had another look and it seems that opera very quickly shows the pop applet loading then dissapears. you need to be able to accept the applet security certificate. it seems to work fine in IE6 and firebird.

Yeah, Opera has a lot of problem with java aplets... I think it was made to be as safe as possible or something like that....

True.
Just an hour ago I booted up my other computer (don't have Opera on it) and it turned out I had just gotten the RealPHX virus from IE. Such a secure browser...

Uhhhh .... it seems my ISP or my IP address have been banned from the chat server or that channel? How odd! :D

yes it is odd, i will be changing it soon anyway as irc chat channels for dbpoweramp is not desired anymore.
i will make a channel for my sensory-fusion.com site for general chit chat on anything including dbpoweramp. it's basically i need to change the channel name to dissasociate dbpoweramp from it. to revent any liabilities etc...
i will post back the changes made here when it is done.

May I suggest a different kind of chat room that doesn't rely on IRC? I, for one, always seem to have trouble with IRC chats :o
Check out http://www.sigmachat.com/ for free, easy to use chat rooms with nothing required to download and install (other than allowing Java applets).
If you want to restrict its use to members only, you can either buy a subscription, or include the link (or even open it) in a members-only part of the forum (a trick I found by accident as I was experimenting ;) ).

no i won't be doing anything advanced for a chat channel. forums i believe provide better information structure. but having access to a chat channel is good for chat in general.

yeah, caht is good for access but, generaly forums are better, you can see what people are talking about when you are not online, and say what you think no mater who is online... dbpoweramp doesn't have such a comunity to always have someone on the chanel... I should know, it was usually just me, sometimes Razgo, and once or twice I saw another user... I almost stoped checking the chanel lately...
