Windows XP Pro – “No CD Writers Found”

Windows XP Pro – “No CD Writers Found”

I uploaded the free CD writer for my work pc, which runs Windows XP Pro.

After running the program and attempting to burn, I get a “No CD Writers Found” message.

I did read that 98 & ME operating systems have this problem, but I can’t find anything on XP pro?

Any suggestions? Could my work have disguised my writable drive. I do have one, and I burn with Window Media Player 10, but I am looking for a DAO option which it does not offer.

    Thanks!

Do note that CD Writer doesn't offer gapless CD burning.
Also, I have noticed that some CD writers will only show up as writers to the included CD writing program. I'm not sure what causes this, though.

Right click the CD drive and look at the properties (several tabs worth) .. sometimes if you have 'recording' in WinXP checked that screws things up for other users. Ditton Sonic's DLA technology .. any drive sitting there ready for drag&drop recording may not look like a CR writer at the time.

I've also seen USB/Firewire DVDwriters get stuck in CD mode, for no very obvious reason (cycling the power usually sorts that).
