CD Ripper issue reading embedded ISRC info.

    CD Ripper issue reading embedded ISRC info.

    When CD ripper reads a disc that contains embedded ISRC...

    If one of the tracks doesn't have an embedded ISRC. Then it will only display ISRCs up to that track. No further. Tracks after that are blank.

    I have attached a screen shot of Cd Ripper and Win11 EZ CD Audio Converter.

                  I can confirm this was an issue as well. I was thinking it was the media's fault, but actually it is not.
                  I had "Tears For Fears - The Seeds Of Love" UK and US versions. The UK version listed all the ISRC, but strangely the US missed about three tracks.
                  Now if I reload for the metadata I get all the ISRCs. Many thanks for this fix.

                      Hello. I think the issue has not completely been addressed, at least with some CDs.
                      I have a-ha's Foot of the Mountain (this exact pressing).
                      EAC can detect all the ISRCs.

                      But dBpoweramp still not getting them all, after refreshes. Most of them are still missing. The other CDs I was having this issue, they worked alright.

                              I have also noticed that sometimes there is a reading error. It randomly displays the same ISRC for 2 consecutive tracks.
                              I'm using MacOS Sonoma.

                                  There seem to be issues with ISRC data coming from the MusicBrainz database. I was able to confirm this with the A-Ha album linked above, by performing manual search with https://musicbrainz.org/release/a696...d-68fe97105f1f

                                  To read ISRC directly from the disc, please click metadata button, then choose "Retrieve Metadata From / CD-ISRC". This will discard bad ISRC values and read directly from your disc.

                                      When using "Retrieve Metadata From / CD-ISRC", I have the same issue where the same ISRC is displayed for 2 consecutive tracks, once or twice on some CDs. EAC returns the correct ISRCs. So far it has happened on 4 out of 12 CDs. I'm on version 2023-10-10 (64 bit) on Windows 10

                                          It is working randomly.

                                          I tested this pressing, and told the app to retrieve metadata from CD-ISRC. It worked very well, but it inserted hyphens - look here. EAC also retrived, but no hyphens:

                                          However, using the feature "Retrieve from CD-ISRC" returns only 3 values, and I guess it is not retrieving from the CD... but some other database.
                                          Take a look here.

                                          My understanding is that some releases don't have this damn code. And the software looks for it. When it has it, it retrieves. When it doesn't, EAC doesn't put it. And dBpoweramp tries, but eventually tries from a different database (which is incomplete). Is that understanding right?

                                              This forum has some hell of a buggy behaviour. I had tried to post and edit a long explanation on this, and somehow got automatically binned. I will try to explain tomorrow.

                                                      dBpoweramp doesn't find anything from the generic metadata providers, but reading from the "Metadata icon" -> "Retried Metadata From..." -> "CD-ISRC", it does work.

                                                      The strange thing is that dBpoweramp inserts hyphens when it does read directly from CD. This pressing is the kind of pressing that does not have the ISRC in any other metadata database. I'm not sure why the hyphens come, what is the standard?

                                                      Now this pressing, Paul McCartney "Flowers..." - listed here in Discogs.

                                                      Doesn't seem to have ISRC in the CD itself - EAC can't do it.

                                                      Going for the "Metadata icon" -> "Retried Metadata From..." -> "CD-ISRC" doesn't change anything because there is no ISRC on CD.

                                                      So I guess, a desirable behavior would be:
                                                      - Always try to get the ISRC from the CD first, not the Metadata providers (they actually have quite a few of them wrong) - do it like EAC does (no hyphens, if found).
                                                      - If the CD doesn't have it, then rely on the Metadata providers and hope for the best.
                                                      - If that column is not completed, one can complete manually by going to https://isrcsearch.ifpi.org/.

                                                      Talk about tagging OCD, huh?
