ripping issue with cds with pre-emphasis

    Hi

Hope you can help. I am getting issues ripping 2 cds I have that have pre-empahasis.

I have previously ripped both these cds no problem before on my previous Windows 10 laptop. Recently I bought a new laptop with Windows 11 and I have v17.7 installed.

The 1st cd I had an issue with was 'The Vaselines - Dum-Dum' cd. Every time I ripped it it would error on different tracks. I put this down to the actual cd being at fault at the time.

Today I was ripping 'New Order - Low-life' Factory cd. I rip to MP3 and FLAC and all looked ok. I always open rips in MP3Tag to check all tags look good and noticed that the MP3 of track 2 had ripped fine but the FLAC file showed a length of 00:00 and the bitrate was 0 kBits/s and the file wouldn't play (image attached).

    The log looks fine:

Likely your security software is stopping the de-emphasis from running, try restarting your computer in 'safe mode with networking'

Thanks for your reply, I've not had a chance to try this yet but will report back when I do. Just FYI I have no 3rd party security software installed just the built in Windows security.

If still have issues, enable the debug log from Control Center >> Advanced

        Then rip 1 track

Re: ripping issue with cds with pre-emphasis

Ok I had another go with this cd tonight. I restarted in safe mode with networking and ripped the cd twice. The first time seemed to rip no problem. The 2nd time it looked as tough it had ripped fine but when I checked the files, track 1 of the flac files showed a length of 00:00 and the bitrate of 0 kBits/s.

I then rebooted and went back in normal Windows mode. I ripped twice and both times worked fine. All files look good. I've attached the log file for one of these rips although not sure how useful it is when it didn't fail.

Obviously an intermittent issue. If you want me to try anything else let me know.

I would need the log when it fails.

              Hi Spoon

I've reripped the disc and got an error this time. I've attached the log file, the results log and a screenshot of the failed file.

You can see the screen print shows an error but the results log file looks ok.

If you want me to check anything else let me know. I'm happy now that I managed to get a rip ok but if you want me to continue to fault find then no problem.

We need the per track log, but this one is only created for 1 track, you would have to enable debugging, rip just track 6, and keep repeating until it failed. The log would show what the program sees.
