Setting up system for crash dumping
Occasionally you might be directed here to setup your system to generate a crash dump file which will enable Illustrate to locate the cause of a crash. When your system is setup in this way, any program which crashes writes its state to a .dmp dump file, it is like a snapshot of the program at the point of the crash.
To set your system to write crash dump files, For Windows 7 or Newer:
1) Create a folder crashdump in the root of drive c: (so you have a folder c:\crashdump\ ) Open Windows Explorer, select drive c:, press the alt key, then F, and choose 'New >> Folder' type the name crashdump
2) Save this file:
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/beta/SetupCrashDump.zip
to the c:\crashdump\ folder, then right click on this zip file >> Extract All >> follow the steps to extract the file
Once you have SetupCrashDump 'Registration Entries' saved, double click it, a message will appear asking if ok to insert in the registry, select yes.
3) Run your program which crashes, once crashes, close the 'Program has stopped working' window, and send the new .dmp file from c:\crashdump\ to http://www.dbpoweramp.com/email.htm (if you are able to zip it up it will be smaller, right click on in >> Send to >> Compressed Zip Folder)
4) To return your system so it does not write crash dump files, select Start >> run (or press Windows Key + R), type:
regedit
browse to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Wind ows Error Reporting\LocalDumps
and delete the values: DumpFolder and DumpType
