Re: dBpowerAMP AAC to Mp4 & Mp4 to AAC

There are 3 ways to do this. First off to convert a file to aac then you just get itunes and it will convert it automaticly. Here is the hard part, converting aac to anouther format. The first way is to burn an audio cd then import the songs on your computer using any software such as windows media player. the 2 way is to get creative media sorce, creative wave studio or any software where you can recored what you hear out of your speakers (if you can not find a software for free that can du this get a line in line out cable that has a headphone jack size and put it in your speaker and microphone slot on your soundcard.) push recored first then press play in itunes, or any playback software. push stop when the song has finished and make a Id3 tag. The theird way to do this is to just get a software that can convert aac to wav, wma, wma lossless, wma protected, mp3, monkey, or mp4.
(one thing isn't mp4 a video format and aac is an audio format?)

Re: dBpowerAMP AAC to Mp4 & Mp4 to AAC

(one thing isn't mp4 a video format and aac is an audio format?)
No. AAC (Advanced Audio Encoding) is an audio format originally designed for use within mpeg2. Mpeg 4, like mpeg1 and mpeg2 before it, a set of standards for audio and video files. Mp4 is short for mpeg4. An mp4 file may contain audio or video.

And while your suggestions are perfectly valid, dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC) is a program that will convert files from a variety of formats to AAC (within an mp4 box), or to mp4 or one to the other. There are situations in which tagging issues may arise which may lessen the effectiveness of dMC in certain situations (some apps. prefer to use ID3v1 tags while dMC prefers to use Ape tags for AAC/mp4 files, if I remember right). The other factor that might limit dMC is when it is dealing with AAC files that are encrypted to deter conversion (such as m4p files from iTunes, which I also believe to be encoded in AAC).

dMC also has a component (dMC Auxilary Input) which enables you to record audio as it is played by your sound card. It is freeware as is the basic version of dMC.

Re: dBpowerAMP AAC to Mp4 & Mp4 to AAC

Mp4 is a container, while aac is an audio format. Mp4 may contain both audio and video, or even more (subs etc) or audio only.
