How Do I Edit The List of Selectable Genres For Tagging?

I want to edit the list of selectable genres. I searched my whole comp and the registry for any files containing "Porn Groove" and found none.

I just logged on and can't believe no one has answered my question. You guys usually answer before I submit my post Maybe y'all think I'm joking because of the pr0n reference. The reason I mentioned "Porn Groove" is that that is an item in the default list that is unlikely to show up anywhere else on my machine other than where the default genre list is located. I used it as my search string. Please help - I can't listen to my music if my tagging tool doesn't have a default list that I populated myself. This is very important. And oh, I replied to my own post because the option to edit the original was not available ANYWHERE that I could see. Have a nice day. BTW are you guys Euros? I am beginning to get a "Euro" vibe - like different kind of humor... dunno.

The "Edit" option is only available for 30 minutes or so, I believe. Also, some of the folks on here are from Europe, but at least myself I am from the US.

Just to make sure I understand you, you want to change the genres used for tagging? I think the default genres are the default for the tagging specs.

Yes you understand me correctly. I don't like the list of choices and I want to populate the list myself. It might be hardcoded into the executable (tsk tsk). If anyone knows I would be interested to hear...

    Thx

    Hello NoMo

I'm anything but an expert - but perhaps this might help.

I have all my music divided into 12 folders
named according to the genres I coined a few years ago,
    e.g. 01-Classical / 02-Blues / 03-Rock, etc.

Nowadays, when I download a track or rip a new CD,
I modify the tags of the resulting audio files
using the "Convert tag to filename" codec
(set up to recognise my folder structure and file naming system)
and then add the music to dBpoweramp's "Music collection".
The "Edit tag" function in "Music collection"
allows you to create your own tags and to delete any unwanted ones.
Is this what you're after ?
You can also sort on genre and see which tracks have no genre assigned.
You can also export all tracks to a TXT file and thence to a Word or Excel table and sort away to your heart's content.

    Best regards from
Ray (from "Old Euope" as your nice Mr Rumsfeld called us)

    PS
"America and England are two nations divided by a common language."
    (George Bernard Shaw, I think)
