I have noticed that the jpeg/jpg format is beginning to be replaced with the png format. This is happening in sites such as wallpaper/screensaver blogspots, and I recently downloaded a music file with the artwork in png.
My understanding is that whoever has the proprietary rights to jpeg has decided to start asking for royalties, so png (ping) has appeared as a royalty free format. This means the until recently rare png format will become the more commonly encountered format.
It would be nice if future versions of DMC kept apace with the new practice and allowed the use of "folder.png" to add artwork to a batch of files. At present I would have to do this a song at a time so this change makes sense to me.
I have once encountered a gif file, so maybe allowing gif as well would be a good idea, if this can be accommodated in the code writing.
