MBID tag - is it important or relevant to store this string in a tag?

    Hi. Good evening!

I am doing some re-rips and I usually leave out the MBID tag field.
Once the CD has all the information it needs, is it any relevant that this tag is stored in the file?

    Thanks.

I think it is not that important, because, see... I have Martin L. Gore's Counterfeit e.p. - dBpa is retrieving code 006e1433-0060-4486-b4c2-d71e2e246a32 which is actually linked to the Sire Records US release. The Mute CDStumm 67 UK release, which I have, is 50cdd8bc-5c51-382a-97f3-e547f87aed05. That means that while the database is helpful to retrieve the CD information, it is unable for the software to understand different pressings as it may point to another pressing.

Some servers use the MBIDs to differenciate reissues/remasters and to enable scrobbling to listenbrainz e.g. Lyrion, OpenSubsonic e.t.c.

If you're not sure, I'd say keep them; it's MUCH easier to remove them than it is to add them.
