Scanner Problems

Any time I try to use the scanner to fix a cover for my CD, the scanner will work using the default settings. But if I try to change, or even see the options on the dropdown the dropdown immediately closes and just show the default value. If I just try entering another value in the dropdown box everything locks up and I have to end the task in the windows task manager. This happened on the old version of dbpoweramp and perfect tunes, and it's still happening on the updated version. Is this normal, or is there a problem. I don't receive any error messages the program simply locks up.

The options box is provided by the scanner, we have no control over it.
