type of album art retrieved by PerfectTUNES - baseline or progressive

    Hi
My DAP will display baseline .jpg files.

does your software distinguish between baseline and progressive .jpg files?
can it be set to download baseline only?

can your software scan the album art currently embedded, and if it's progressive, download a baseline version and replace?

can your software scan the album art, and if it exceeds a certain size, re-download a smaller, baseline version?

    thank you

    Bill

It can be mixed, but progressive is not popular so you possibly will never see it, if you resize the art (smaller) then it will be baseline.

I agree, Ripper should have a way to filter out progressive JPG images when viewing cover art options. My Sony NW-A45 player will not display progressive at all. Now, I have to go back and fix those albums manually. My guess is it is at least 1 or 2 out every 10 I rip.

If it helps anyone . . . you can identify all the jpg's that are progressive with exiftool and then use that list to batch process and losslessly re-encode them to baseline jpg's with jpegtran.

Agree this is an annoying issue. I can post more info if there is interest.
