Hi
I'm a registered user of PerfectTunes running the latest version 2026-01-16 on Windows 10. My main library is on a Synology NAS connected to my Windows PC.
I do not want to use the Fix Albums method, as I have found this to be unreliable, so am updating low-resolution art one by one, using the Fix option for each. I am not embedding artwork, files are written to cover.jpg.
However the manual Fix option does not update the local library database cache, so when PerfectTunes Album Art is next reloaded, the same low-resolution albums appear as if they had never been updated.
I thought this might have to do with my library being accessed via UNC path, so I tried the following on a small sample of albums from three different library paths:
1. local path, eg. C:\Users\Roland\Music\Test
2. unc network path, eg. \\musicserver\music\Test
3. mapped network path, eg. M:\Test (where M is mapped to \\musicserver\music)
The initial scan shows correct low-resolution art info, eg. 300 x 300, 20KB. If I use the Fix option one one album, and select a new high-resolution image, intially I can see [Applying Art...] briefly appear, the art info correctly shows the new size, eg. 1200 x 1200, 104KB, and if I select ... → Show Album Art it displays the new artwork just fine. Checking the actual file path confirms that the cover.jpg has been rewritten.
However, if I quit the application and reload PerfectTunes Album Art, only the original low-resolution artwork and art info is displayed, as if it was never updated, eg. 300 x 300, 20KB. If I click the thumbnail, the old low-resolution artwork is displayed, but if I select ... → Show Album Art it correctly displays the new artwork.
This is regardless of the type of library path (local, unc, mapped).
My expectation is that the reload should show the manually fixed artwork and info, however it does not. If I clear the database cache, the rescan then correctly shows thumbnail artwork and art info.
A couple of other problems with the Choose Album Art window:
1. it shrinks after each successive open,
2. if it is resized larger, the extra window portion is not rendered with content, it remains gray,
3. the scroll bar has a void region at the top which seems to extend across the whole view, and you cannot then just click back to the top you have to click and drag.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Roland
