Perfect Tunes Album Art Issue on Mac

I have a Mac mini with a 2TB external drive for my high res music files. The Album Art feature for Mac will only check the Music Folder on the internal Mac drive (which in my case, is empty) - and there is no option to specify a different path. Can this design flaw be corrected? Thanks!
