    FLAC to MP3 Speed Problem

i'm trying to convert a bunch of FLAC files to MP3. I already downloaded the FLAC codec. Anyways, i can convert it fine but the finished mp3 product is playing at a 4x slower rate. the original file FLAC song was about 4 minutes but after convering to mp3, the song is now 16 minutes long. its sounds like a tape player trying to play tape with low batteries.

i run windows xp on AMD x2 3800+ with 1gb ram if it matters.

    thanks for any help.

o ya btw, i'm not using any DSP effects.

Check the refresh rate on your FLAC files or the bits (16-bit or 24-bit).

Re: FLAC to MP3 Speed Problem

If you have either an unexpired PowerPack or a registered PowerPack, you can right-click on your FLAC files and click "Edit Tag." All of the information should be there. If that doesn't work and you have the PopupInfo on, just hold your mouse over the file and see what the pop-up says.

What is the frequency or sample rate? 44100Hz/44.1KHz, 48000Hz/48KHz?

you are going to have to downsample first, then encode to mp3

Encode to a 96KHz, 16-bit WAV file, then to a 16-bit 44.1KHz WAV file, then to a 44.1KHz mp3 file. note that you WILL lose tags, but you can use the "Tag from Filename" utility codec to regain them from your filenames.

Did you try converting to 16 bit, 96 kHz wave or to 44.1 kHz wave?
