    AC3 to other format conversion

I am trying to work out how to convert from AC3 to other formats.
I went to codec central and downloaded the AC3 codec but can not get dbC to recognise it.
    HELP

Re: AC3 to other format conversion

Where did the AC3 codec come from?
The AC3 decoder for dBpowerAMP Music COnverter (dMC) requires the DirectShow reader codec and the ac3 DirectShow filter (both of which can be downloaded from Codec Central (tabbed link at top of page).
The DirectShow filter must be configured in the DirectShow configuration window and (I believe) the configuration must be confirmed in dMC Configuration before dMC will be able to read AC3 files. If this has been done successfully, you should be able to open dMC Configuration (Start>All Programs>dBpowerAMP Music Converter>Configuration>dBpowerAMP Music Converter Configuration), look at your list of installed decoder codecs for the DirectShow decoder and see .ac3 listed on that line. If it is not there, it is not properly installed.
If you need help, there is a Help file for the DirectShow decoder you can reference (Start>All Programs>dBpowerAMP Music Converter>Help>Codecs>DirectShow).

If the codec shows as being properly configured, see if you can test your convert your ac3 file.

If you get stuck, please be as specific as you can about what you have tried and what happened. If the DirectShow decoder is properly set up to read .ac3, please tell us the characteristic of your .ac3 file (frequency, channels, bitrate).

    Best wishes,
    Bill
