major prob with dMC Audio Cd Input

    :vmad:

I've been using music converter forever and thought it was the greatest program ever. I just bought an mp3 player for my car and decided to register DMC Audio CD Input so that I could rip my cd's to mp3 to listen to in my car. One major problem....it doesn't work! I insert a cd, accurate rip automatically starts and the program freezes. I've restarted my computer several times, disabled accurate rip, uninstalled the program, reinstalled the program, tried other cd's, it still freezes. I can't even use alt+ctl+del and windows task manager to end the program. As I type this, Audio Cd Input is STILL "not responding". I thought it would be so easy. Register, install the registered program, insert a cd and start ripping. Not so!!!! Was this a complete and total waste of $14.00?!??!!!? Extremely frustrated!

Delete the accuraterip.dll file from your dBpowerAMP install directory.

That worked, to a point. I can actually rip cd's now, but Freedb doesn't seem to be working. "Getting CDDB From 'Freedb.Freedb.org', retrieving albums [Connecting]" stays at the bottom of the screen and never actually connects. If I click on the Freedb button the program freezes. I can close it but it will not reopen. Restart the computer, go to options and try to adjust the settings for Freedb and the program locks up again.

        What's your OS?

Do you have a firewall? It may be preventing the program from accessing the internet.

This is from the Help in the Freedb function in dMC AUdio CD Inout:
freedb should function automatically in the background, that is each time a CD is inserted the tracks are looked up and filled on screen. It is important if running a firewall (such as ZoneAlarm, Norton or Windows XP built in firewall) that access to the internet for Audio CD Input is granted.

Windows XP with Norton as a firewall. Everything relating to Db Poweramp is permitted as far as I can tell.

Disable Norton firewall, does it work now?

Rebooted computer....AGAIN.....disabled Norton and started dMC Audio Cd Input....still got the same message that Freedb was trying to connect....waited several minutes....clicked on the Freedb button and the program froze. Everytime I click on the button (after waiting several minutes for something to happen) the program freezes.

Check your hosts file. You may be blocking access to freedb.org .

Might you be using a proxy?

Did you disable both XP firewall and Norton firewall?

Are you signed in as administrator? That is needed especially for ripping cd's.

Even when I open Audio Cd Input Options and try to "select" a freedb Server the program freezes. Can this get any more frustrating?

Have you uninstalled the whole of dBpowerAMP and reinstalled it cleanly?

Something (or a program) is stopping dbpoweramp from accessing the internet, this is the cause of the freezes. Perhaps you are using a proxy server?

Re: major prob with dMC Audio Cd Input

It finally started working! I think the problem started by not having a clean install from the very begining, instead I installed the registered version (11.5) over an older version of Audio CD Input. I went back to dBpoweramp.com and downloaded an unregistered version of 11.5, installed, and it accessed freedb just fine (couldn't rip due to the license being expired), then reinstalled the registered version of 11.5 over the top of that. So far, no problems.
