    Error message, no conversion

Hi! I have been using dbpower converter for ten months without problem. Now seemingly without any reason, I get the following message after selecting the files to be converted (mostly from flac and mp3 320 to mp3 192):

MusicConverter.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

First I uninstalled the program and tried to redownload the whole thing. However, it does the same thing. Could you help me how I could fix the thing and continue using the program as before? For your reference, my order number was ******** and paid for the Power Pack & mp3 Encoder license on February 1, 2005.

I am not a computer expert and it took some time for me to find this place to post a question. I am still not sure I am at the right place. I was directed to Forum to post a question but I did not find the option of posting new questions on that page. I am not sure that I can get back to this place to see the answer so I would appreciate if you could send me an answer to my mail> exorggyg@axelero.hu.

Sorry, we do not offer support by email. You will have to come back to the forum to read the replies.

Does thsi happen to all files that you try to convert? Have you tried some that have worked before?

What are the specifications of your input files (bits, bitrate, frequency, channels) and what are those of your output file? If you change both frequency and channels in one conversion you may have this kind of problem.

You could try to downlaod and install the new Flac decoder codec which is in beta for now, from http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=9035 .

That's not a helpful answer, is it? Rather off-topic for that matter too.

Try the new FLAC beta version in the beta section of this forum.

Just to inform you, the complete uninstallation and re-installation suggested solved the problem, now the program seems to work fine again. Thank you.

                  Re: Error message, no conversion

And the question remains. I converted about 50 flac files without a problem, so I set out to convert another set and got the same error message. So I did the same uninstallation and reinstallation as before but it did not work. So I tried to do it again, maybe I missed something, but I could not enter my licence number and got informed that it is too much for the week, try again next week. So I downloaded the trial version, which seemed to work fine, I did not get the error message but when I pressed the convert button following setting up the destination info I got a message that my trial version expired and I should register. So I got stuck again. I stress again that I use the same procedure for a year, I download my flac files from the same torrent site, so nothing has changed as far as I know. A solution is quite urgent because my free memory is shrinking fast with the large flac files. How could I bypass the licence number limitation? Why do we have such a limit on the number of weekly entries? In other words, how can I get out of this shhhhhh.

                    Re: Error message, no conversion

The weekly limit is set up by the third party Spoon uses to handle all purchases. See here to get another registered install: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/announce...nouncementid=8
Note that if you have bought the PowerPack withing the past 2 weeks, you will need to follow the instructions in the latter half of the announcement.

Can you be 100% sure that your downloaded flac files are error free?

Yes, I am absolutely sure. There are some ogg and mp3 320 torrents I want to convert to mp3 192 and they do not work either.
Maybe I should reinstall my operating system. I do not know if this could be the solution since all other programs work fine.

Can you convert these files to WAV? Is it just conversion to mp3 that is giving you a problem?

BTW Can you play these songs and if so what do you use?

even if the trial is expired.. this will still work

                            - if you are using winxp then you can try different compatibility modes on dmc. right click the exe, properties, compatibility. (nothing should have to be set)

Yes, I can play the flac files with dbpowerAmp without problem. I can also play the other files. I tried to convert them one by one, but the program just does not execute following my pressing the convert button in the upper left corner of the selection screen. Up to that point everything seems to be fine.

Thanks for the other limitless links, I will try them.
